  • Starred in a Beastie Boys music video Make Some Noise, along with Seth Rogan and Danny McBride

  • He is of English, German, Austrian and Danish descent

  • A 2006 edition of the magazine Autograph Collector ranked him #7 out of the "Ten Best Hollywood Signers" (based on his dealings with fans when seen out and about, not his signings though the mail)

  • Enjoys collecting Star Wars memorabilia

  • When he heard about the casting process for The Lord of the Rings, with the help of some friends, he shot his own audition tape and sent it to Peter Jackson

  • Was nicknamed "Spark-plug" and "Monkey" due to his energy as a child

  • Had a part in The Sound of Music whilst at school

  • Provides voice overs for video games, and has played the part of Spyro the Dragon since 2006

  • Is the middle child of Debra D. and William W. Wood. Zachariah is his older brother, and Hannah his younger sister

  • Had to be hospitalised in 2003, after his appendix burst and he had to have it removed

  • In 2008, he crossed Africa's Victoria Falls by rope. He was the first person ever to do this, and did so on Jack Osbourne's TV show Adrenaline Junkies

  • Contributed to Viggo Mortensen's album Pandemoniumfromamerica by singing and playing several instruments

  • Has a tattoo featuring the Tengwar script from The Lord of the Rings. The lettering means the number "9" in Elvish, and is below his waist on the right hand side. All "Fellowship" cast members received such a tattoo, except for John Rhys-Davies, who nominated his stunt double to have to tattoo in his place
