History:
Smaug was one of the last great dragons of Middle-earth. Smaug was very arrogant and very greedy, and would do anything for gold and riches. It was his great arrogance that would finally come to end him. When he was already centuries old Smaug came from the north and attacked the Dwarven kingdom of Erebor and The Lonely Mountain in TA 2770. He ruined the city and killed the dwarves who were not lucky enough to escape, so that he could claim their treasures as his own. With no one to fight him, Smaug ruled the kingdom for two centuries, however he did leave the rest of Middle-earth be, underlining that he wasn’t evil, just greedy.
In the year TA 2941 Thorin’s company arrived in Erebor to finally take back what was rightfully theirs. It was Bilbo Baggins who discovered what would later help defeat Smaug. Like his kin, Smaug was covered with hard scales that made it impossible for anyone to attempt to harm or kill him in a head on attack. However, his stomach was not protected by these scales, and though Smaug had tried to cover his weak spot with diamonds and gemstones Bilbo noticed an uncovered patch near his heart. After Bilbo left to tell his company of Smaug’s only weakness, he was accidentally overheard by a thrush who instantly informed Smaug of their plans. That caused Smaug to leave the safety of The Lonely Mountain and instead he unleashed his rage on Laketown, intending to level it to the ground. Finally, because of Smaug’s arrogance and inability to see his own flaws, it was Bard the Bowman who ended his long reign by piercing his heart with a black arrow. Smaug fell to his death and landed in the burning ruins of Laketown.
