Ah, well, it's encouraging that some people enjoyed it But I guess in an admin position, the bad is a lot more noticeable than the good. Kind of like the "missing tile syndrome" that my mom's favorite radio talk show host talks about - you see a beautifully tiled ceiling, but if there's just one tile that's missing, you focus on that one and disregard all the nice ones. So there were lots of nice goings-on at the A-U forum, but the bad ones stood out the most for me.

A-U used to be like that? I can't imagine it. A-U is so peaceful, and yet so much fun. When I was little, I used to go on the Neopets boards, and it was really bad there. People were mean to each other, wrote inapproriate things, and were just, to put it simply, rude. And that was a children's forum. When I first got to A-U, I thought it would be worse than that, because older people came here. I was happily wrong. You guys have done a great job keeping A-U mature, appropriate, and fun.

And,yes, i will aslo like to thank Arwen & A-U moderators for making this forum a safe place and appropriate just like Miri said. Keep up the good work.

Heeh, its a relief to know that the general atmosphere was not disrupted by *cough* certain things. Wow, Arwen, that was almost a year ago. >.<

lol so it was. It doesn't seem nearly so long ago as that. I think part of the problem was that in the old forum 90% of the posts seemed to be made in the Life Outside Lotr board it made things seem a bit claustraphobic at times.
I did like the old forum though I seemed to know far more people there and some friends I had there never joined this forum. I don't miss the signatures there though Some people seemed to have at least 6 banners. I'm sure I even remember someone who had 3 wallpapers as a siggy

^ They most certainly did! I actually confronted my fears and went back there a couple days ago to check the reaaaally old "Where are you from?" thread for my complete countries and states list, and I was really surprised at how messy everything seemed. Just...between all of the huge sigs, my awfully mismatched layout, etc., there was no order.
Ela, I agree that it's a shame that some people never joined the new forum True, there are some who I wouldn't wish back again, but there are others who seemed to really contribute to our discussions back there and then never took the time to transfer over.

The layout's not missmatched in the old forum it looks good to me
I think quite a few of the posters on the old forum were fed up with the problems there but didn't want give the new one a chance to see if it could be better with several of these problems fixed.

Yes, I can remember people who never switched over. I also miss having the really really old 'deep' discussions that you could drag out from the depths and start up again...
Agree with Ela - Arwen, that layout looked nice! I remember I was so impressed when you put it up.

Hey Ivy!
I'm new I've only read your post so far cuz I wanted to tell you how alike we are! I'm a Christian also. And I love Shakespeare, and Hamlet is my favorite. And I love singing and hormonizing and all that. And I think there was more but I can't remember.

I like the old forum, I go there often. Lately Ive brought over a few things from the old forum, like we had a tips section on how to deal with certain happenings when your moderating and people are totally breaking the rules. *sadness*
I miss the old friends at the old AU
I think alot of people dont talk to me anymore because I changed my name (Eruanna) and people don't recognise me, I'm still the same person I used to be!!! Well maybe a little ess random now.
i was randomness of random and then people jut took it too far and made it unenjoyable for me.
Like my cheese thing, I had this thing with cheese then other people started with it too.
cheese is not as fun anymore.

Aww, Jo. No matter how much other people have taken to cheese, you'll always have you own, special randomness. Like your sig, for example. I dont see anyone else around here with an obsession over close-up pictures. It looks quite good actually.
And as a member of the old forum, I'd like to tell all the mods who are fretting that any problems that may have occured there were well handled, and kept very discreet. I wasnt aware of any until it was mentioned in posted, long after the happenings.
I still go back there and read through things occasionally, its not that bad. But I like the new one better. Less banners inbetween posts, and better smilies. Lol.

Aye, the issues on the old forum are just a little blip compared to it all. I miss some of the people and discussions we had there...but the new forum is great too!

Quote: I miss some of the people and discussions we had there Yeah, the two forums are different, and yet in some ways quite similar! It's too bad that some people didn't transfer over to this one, but it's interesting to see all the new folks who continue dropping in!
