Only a small fraction of the mod list are still active, meaning they visit the site frequently (at least 4-5 times a week). Arwebby has indeed been busy at college and have returned to update and to help us moddies deal with some technical stuff.
Miremiel has unfortunately moved on from the site, we still speak with her frequently but Mire has decided to move on with her life.
Tindomerel we have not heard from in a few. I've never been particularly close to her so I'm afraid I don't know what she's up to.

Is Arwen going to try to visit the site more often now that the Hobbit movie is going to be made?

^That can't really be determined seeing as though regardless as to whether or not the Hobbit is in the making, college is still a factor. And the fact that there hasn't been Tolkien's works being produced never was ever a factor in Arwebby's absence from the site.

Thanks for the infor Larael and Kit. Yeah, I just noticed the updates on the main site (I've been so used to no updates for such a long time than I've developed an ignorant blindness to any news there!)
Mire is never coming back, you say? But... but... I never got to know her... for real..
And I hope Tin and her family are doing alright.
*whispers'
I've got a feeling, we're not alone...
Apart from Ivy and Kit who post regularly on the forum, I've seen Elanor, Sidawethiel, Nienor, Valaraukar and Frodofan around... and of course the glorious return of the much-loved Arwen - we should celebrate! cue: party smiley!

We most certainly should! *throws confetti*
Your sure Mire isn't coming back? I could've sworn I just saw a post of hers in the RPG section...
It seems that a tiny group of moddies are left. Has anyone heard from Herenya? I thought she made an appearance not too long ago, but I can't quite remember. I do miss her so.

What, Arwen is back? How cool is that!?
I'm really sad that Mire isn't coming back. I didn't even get to know her a little bit

Does anyone hear from Tindomerel? How about Miremiel? She hasn't been here for years now, but didn't Nienor go to see her last summer? And how about the rest? How about Arwen? Does she ever visit here, even though she doesn't post? I miss her.
Yes.
I did go to visit Mire this summer. She and I became very close friends about three years ago, and talked many times of meeting, but it never seemed likely to happen soon. But then my nannying job in Switzerland came up, and my employers volunteered to help me get to Denmark. I spent two glorious weeks with Mire, and I will never forget them! I never really posted much about my stay on AU...if anyone would like, I suppose I could find old blog posts or something.
However, I have to confirm that yes, Mire is gone. She may drop in once or twice a year to see how we are, but her life has moved on and AU isn't a constant factor any more.
Tindomerel got married, and has been very busy with health concerns, as I can recall. That's the last I remember hearing from her.
To answer some of the other questions, because I'd quite forgotten about this thread until I happened into it today-
I have been a mod for over three years. Arwen asked me when I was fourteen. I'd been a member for five months. The first thing I did as a new mod was make a mistake on chat that led to a few members thinking I was trying to impersonate. *laughs* I was so embarassed. I changed my name once (can't remember if I've answered this question before). When I joined, I was LuthienEleni, but that got old before too long and I changed to Nienor. I love being called Nie. Sometimes I think Nie is as much my real name as Hannah is!
Yeah, modding is difficult. Not necessarily unpleasant, but hard. (Though it does have its moments. )
We should try to remember to look here more often.

Thanks for your update, Nie
I'm glad to hear that Mire is well. I used to read her blog a long time ago when she still updated her Xanga... Denmark is wonderful, aye? *grins* I hope the weather treated you well!
I do remember LuthienEleni but I didn't know it was you. You have been Nienor for so long now!

Woop for Hannahs!! *High fives Nie* On Facebook my religion is Hannahism. xD
And that's interesting. It's a shame people's lives move on, although I know it's inevitable.
I have a moddie-esque question.
When did Arweb last appoint mods? We all know that a lot of the mods aren't active, or at least not vastly. It could be asked why Arweb doesn't appoint new ones, or something. I've always been curious, especially since I don't remember mods ever being appointed in my time on AU.
*Pounces on Eä*

If I could answer this question a little. True, not all mods are active but just because you don't see them publicly on the forum chatting, there are those that work *very* hard behind the scenes to keep A-U the way it is.
I'm ashamed to say I'm almost one of them. I find myself that in the past year I've barely been posting in the public forums but I'll try to redeem myself by saying that I visit every to work on the forum and help it.
As unusual as this may sound I believe that when I am finally in college I *will* be more active...I think it's because I'll have *less* responsibilities than I do have here at home.

Fair enough then. I was jusr curious. And of course, I know there's a lot of moddies who are in hiding.
And don't worry, Ala, you just totally pwn anyways!

Ya know, I vaguely remember a moddie-appointing sometime during my stay here. Wasn't there one when this forum opened? Herenya was one of the new moddies if I remember correctly... I think I congratulated her on it actually. [Just as everyone was congratulating moddies at the time. ]

I'm not even sure if i'm still a Moderator.
*tries to use some moderator magic... cringes at the crumbling wall in front of him he had just all but vaporised*
I guess that's a yes!
Hello everyone... I'm Turin! I've been around for a LONG time, and have seen this website have huge ups and downs... i've been gone for almsot as long a time but after bumping into Nienor the other night have decided to stop by and see how everything is doing. I'm 24 this year and i'm a manager in a Cinema so subsequently am rather busy but I will do what I can to pop in as much as Possible to see how things are doing and to help where and when I can.
Peace, love and respect to everyone

Hmm, I remember a very long time ago when some people thought that Turin and I were actually brother and sister after reading the story. Not so.
About what you said, Este- good question. It has been a while since new mods were appointed, but like Ala said, we are by no means ignorant of that fact. A lot of us have moved on in life or dropped off the internet, but again the team is still kicking. Actually, there's been a healthy amount of discussion lately and despite the quiet, things are moving under the surface.
In other words... we're watching you.
No, just kidding. It's all good.

Oh, wow Turin. Amazing to see you again!
Yes, Nie, I remember that.
Este, it was before the switch, I'd say the fall before. Like October or something when the last batch of mods was chosen. Yes, we've discussed more mods, but the idea just hasn't flown. Several times actually.
