Does anyone agree with me on this view? I believe that when RotK won for categories like Best Director and Best Picture, it was in a way for the whole trilogy. I mean, RotK is a great movie alone--but all three of them together are a masterpiece. So I think that when they awarded awards like that, despite the awards won at the past Oscars, they were also regarding the whole trilogy. Look at Peter Jackson, how he made all three movies at once.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah they kind of had to. Also think that it was a make-up for regarding TTT as a sequel, which still makes me angry. :disgust: Also The RotK really sums together what all three movies meant. :)

A lot of people agree on this actually, the academy knew what kind of film to expect for RotK and they just waited to give them all in the end, even though every single film deserved them.

I agree. Since the academy generally gives few Oscars to fantasy movies, they were probably waiting until the end to honor the whole trilogy. However, I do believe that the other LOTR movies deserved to win best picture and PJ should have been winning best director for those two movies as well. *sighs* But then again, I am probably biased since I absolutely love the LOTR movies.

Oh - yes, I definitely agree!!! It was definitely the whole trilogy, but the Oscars were just supposed to be given out to single movies, so although the directors (as well as the rest of the audience) knew that the award was for the whole trilogy, it was technically for only RotK. :bye2:
