So I am watching the three Lord of the Rings Movies in a row on TNT, currently ending on TTT and RotK is going to start in just a few minutes, but something I noticed but never really thought about until now was how in each movie one of the elder characters says the title of the movie in a quote... I found that really interesting... I don't know why, and the people who do say the titles were interesting too, it made me think why PJ chose those people to say the lines.

Elrond: 9 companions, so be it. You shall be The Fellowship of the Ring
Saruman: To stand against the might of Sauron and Saruman and the union of The Two Towers
Gandalf: Authority is not given to you to deny The Return of the King

That is very interesting, actually! I never thought about it either. I've always seen it as a service to non-book readers, to sort of take them by the hand and gently show them the plot's connection to the title in each movie!
But you're right and I can definitely see your point. I usually analyse anything to death and back so I'd love to hear what other people have to say to this observation. :-)

I know, I quote these lines a hundred times but I never really connected everything together until just last night when they played all three movies in a row... how the people who say it are leaders or hold powerful positions.

If Merry or Faramir or something said: I look forward to the Return of the King it just wouldn't sound right or hold as much importance than having Gandalf speak.

I have to be honest and say I have noticed that before. :yes:

I always like films that mention the title of the film, and I think that each was mentioned a very important point in each film, so I think they were purposely placed in the films, and the charcaters that spoke them were chosen with care, as Pippin saying the title of the FOTR, or Sam mentioning TTT would have been wrong. It had to be people of wisdom and knowledge.
