Does anyone else think that the cast for lord of the rings and the hobbit is perfect? I couldn't imagine a better set of actors to represent the characters! Peter Jackson and his crew did a good job! Especially for gandalf, bilbo, thorin and aragorn (I could go on)!

I'm very pleased as well, especially with Liv Tyler as Arwen, which I know a lot of people aren't happy with at all. I think she's perfect in that role, because she has that real beauty that suits an elf.

I'm in total agreement! Liv Tyler is perfect for arwen, I think she might be the prettiest woman I've ever seen, which fits the role :)

I think there's something very vulnerable over her too, which just further fits the character. I'm so happy Stuart Townsend didn't stay as Aragorn though, because he didn't fit at all.

I agree, everyone was perfect for their characters.

Even the less important characters like Celeborn seemed to fit perfectly IMO

I think they did a great job in picking everyone out.

I think Liv Tyler for Arwen was perfect. And all the dwarves were perfectly casted as well. Especially Thorin, Balin but also Bofur.

Just one thing: I think Frodo was a little bit to young. In the books he is a hobbit of 50 years, the same age Bilbo had when he went on his adventure. In the films he is played by an actor of 18-19 years.

Yes, he was. In the book, there is about 17-20 years between the 111 birthday party of Bilbo and Frodo's leaving of the Shire.

I agree about everyone from the six movies being the perfect cast. My sisters and I were talking about it the other day. But I will add to this and say that everything was perfect from the cast, to the how the places looked, the attention to detail especially if you have seen the behind the scenes stuff from the extended editions are amazing! And the music. You can't picture any of the places with out thinking about the theme music.

Casting for the most part was really well done and they got it pretty much right. Big hits were Sean Bean as Boromor, David Wenhem as Faramir, Ian Holm as Bilbo, and the wizards Saruman and Gandalf played by Christopher Lee and Ian McKellan. Even John Noble as Denethor was a fair call. A couple changes I would have made if I was in charge of casting would be for the role of Arwen and Frodo. Elijah did not look ‘Frodoish’ and seemed too much like a kid for being 50 years of age. Also, Arwen was supposed to be the Evenstar of the Eldar. Liv to me did not portray this very well at all. Pretty? Yes, but the most beautiful of her race save Luthien, who she was of likeness? Not even close.

Of course the issues have with the movies is the screenplay that PJ, Boyens, & Co. came up with that despite mostly great casting, ruined it for many of the characters.
