I am sure this is a common thing for a lot of them but the moment when Kili, fili, and Thorin all die (That stretch of teh movie) is terribly sad.... then Bilbo going back to the shire... it's almost like breaking out of captivity just to return. lol

And of course when frodo leaves in the LOTR.

It was pretty sad (the first time through) when Gandalf "dies" if you don't know that he doesn't really die.

Well, I cried a lot in LotR, but much less in the Hobbit because I wasn't really invested in the movie characters (totally invested in the book ones BTW), except for Bilbo.
For all three Hobbit movies, I think it's safe to say I cried every time Bilbo did, just because Bilbo.

For LotR, there are so many....

FotR:
After Arwen makes it across the ford and Frodo is on the threshold of death.
When Gandalf dies.
Breaking of the Fellowship, just the entire sequence.
Also Boromir's death.

TTT:
Faramir's flashback when he sees Boromir's boat.
(wow, I thought there would be more here.)

RotK:
After Frodo gets stung by Shelob and Sam cries.
Theoden's death
Eomer finding out Eowyn has been wounded
Denethor saying, "Yes, I wish that." AUUUUUUUUGH!!!!! :'(
In Houses of Healing I didn't cry, but my expression was the same as Eomer's.
The entire last half hour.

Boromirs death for sure was sad and the way Denathor treats Faramir is so repulsive! It makes me love faramir's character all the more because in spite of the cruel treatment he STILL tries to do his job and do it to the best of his ability. It is so sad to see his relationship with his father and then in the extras how it shows that Boromir and him were so close it just makes Boromir's death all the more sad looking back on it because previously you never realize just how close they were! And how much it hurt Faramir to loose his brother... :(

Yeah I have heard a lot of people say that is definitely one scene that should have remained in the theatrical cut.

I agree. Because it reveals so much and does a lot of character building in that short amount of time!

Boromir's death, his send-off in the Elven boat, and Faramir's remembrance of seeing his brother's body in the boat.
