I was just wondering if anyone thought the movies were scary...
The first time I saw FotR, I had to beg my parents to let me see it b/c they said it was too scary! (I was pretty young when it came out) I definitely don't think it's scary at ALL! Also, when I was younger, my mom read me the Hobbit, but wouldn't read me the trilogy b/c it was 'too scary!' Again--NOT SCARY! lol :D I was just wondering what everyone else thought :)

Scary? No, not at all. Okay, those Orcs look a bit odd if you see them for the first time, but the movies were not scary. There were deep emotions in them (though the book had better emotions).

It's a funny story, Gilraen :)
Well, I still can't watch the Ringwraiths in FoTR without a pillow or something to hide my eyes in (can you sau that? you get the point).

Some places and scenes are pretty scary. Paths of the Dead is also pretty brrr...

i think this is more a matter of opinion. a 4 year old would totally freak out when laying eyes on a Black Rider or Shelob (what's scarier than a giant spider for a kid?!). but and adult or something would have no trouble watching it whatsoever.

me? there are parts when i look away, like when Frodo is stabbed with Shelob's stinger. but i think that being scared and clutching a pillow in front of your face is all part of the fun. :-D

I still think Shelob is pretty freaky..... :-o The orcs don't really scare me, but yah, to a 4 year old, they're probably terrifying.

I didn't think it was scary at all........then again I was 11 when FotR cam out so I thought anything with people running around fighting and all these evil people I thought it was cool...........mum was pretty hesitant but we watched it together and it wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be. I always watch it with my Poms........they always whimper when they see the Ringwraiths.

i dont really like the Ringwraiths, they're quite scary, and i can't watch any of the Shelob scenes, because im absolutely terrified of spiders. like Gwenneth said, it's a matter of opinion!

When seeing the movies in theatres for the first time I was not scared at all...

I could see a child (or a person of any age really) being afraid of the Ringwraiths or Shelob however. They were meant to be frightening after all. :P

As Gwenneth said, to each their own. What may scare one person is something trivial for another.

I don't think the movies are scary. They are light as well as they are dark, and they have funny moments in them...

It isn't particularly scary... more very tense at times and that can feel slightly scary- like when Frodo turns all evilish in Mount Doom!

I've always thought the scariest moment was when Bilbo tries to take the ring in Rivendell...

Exactly what I was gonna say! Haha, that is a very freaky part of the movie. What I thought was scary was the feeling of being persecuted by the Nazgul. Come to think of it, Fellowship is the scary movie of the three.

It's not particularly scary - the filmmakers did a good job with the orcs. Just as long as they're in the TV and not in my living room, I doubt I'll burst out screaming. :bye2:
