Imagine that they would be doing a movie of The Silmarillion.... who would you put playing the parts????
I think I would put Tarja Turunen playing the part of Luthien, I think she's perfect for the part.

^ You haven't read the Silmarillion yet???
I always asked myself, who could be playing Thingol. I see him as tall elf, silver-grey, long hair, dark eyes, silver-blue clothes. In my mind he looks very much like Celeborn in the movies. But I don't want Marton Csokas to play Thingol!!! But who else could?

It's a really interresting thread because it's something I'm often wondering...
One certainty to me: Catherine Zena-Jones as Melian... Why?! Dunno. I would just say that this actress has something "royal" in her...
Difficult thought to imagine the Valar... I think human shapes would be desappointing everybody, because they are not by their very nature after all! lol!

I don't think it would be good to make the Sil into a movie at all... I think it wouldn't be made properly..

Yeah but it was said about LotR too... All right it's not perfect but still it's a ood work...
I'm afraid purists would be very offensive about it, certainly more than with LotR...

*agrees* I think to make the Sil into a movie would be much more difficult than LotR, because there's much more happening and it's farer away of a movie than LotR. That might not be a good expression, but I don't know how to write it...

^ yeah exactly ... it would be pretty stupid for them to cut out a lot in the Silmarillion if they made the movie, which they would have to do because it would be a pretty long and detailed movie

they could cut out almost nothing, because then you wouldn't understand the story anymore..
