Vote away! Which film out of all listed was your favorite? And why?

Two Towers because Rohan! So much Rohan!

Although I do love RotK. FotR used to be my least favourite of the trilogy but recently I'm starting to love it more so now I can't really decide between RotK and FotR as to which one I like more.

As for the others on the poll. AUJ was enjoyable but nowhere near as good as any of the LotR films. DoS made me wish there really was such a thing as brain bleach. Absolutely horrendous. I just can't even... Give me a minute. *wanders off to smash stuff up for a few minutes*
Right, where was I? Oh yes. I refuse to see BoFA after the travesty that was DoS so I can't comment on it. I may subject myself to BoFA when it's shown on TV and only if I have copious amounts of alcohol (I hardly ever drink).
Will say this for BoFA, I do like the soundtrack especially The Last Goodbye.

But anyway, TTT is my absolute favourite. The soundtrack is my favourite as well, love the Rohan theme so much.

The Fellowship of the ring is my favorite! Part of it is the Shire, best theme music ever! And of course Boromir is in it.

DoS for the Hobbit (which is the one I voted for, since I'm more into the Hobbit than LotR, for obvious reasons) and the TT for LotR. I always prefer the middle chapter for some reason, probably because nothing bad happens to my favorite character (Thorin for the Hobbit, and the villains for LotR), which is why I'll never list BoFA as my favorite in the Hobbit trilogy (I don't hate it, but it's too emotionally draining to list as my favorite of the three. If I had to choose between BoFA and RotK, I would choose RotK, since it's not as emotionally draining as BoFA, or at least, it isn't for me). Here's my preferred order for both trilogies:

The Hobbit:

DoS (I could live on this movie)
AUJ
BoFA

LotR:

TT
RotK
FotR (again, this isn't because I hate it, I just rarely list the first movie in a trilogy as my favorite)

I like to list the two trilogies separately, since it's too hard to list them all as one. I'm no book purist (I'd miss out on a lot of good movies and TV series if I was like that, since practically everything I like is based on a book), so I don't mind the changes, never have. :)

I chose the return of the king.... just because I always liked Aragorn and I thought it was the most epic... what can I say I am a guy. I like the battle scenes. :P

I would actually pick DoS IF Kili Fili and Thorin had not died in the end! They were my three favorite out fo the dwarves. That's just too sad for me to pick as a favorite. :P I LOVE LOVE LOVE the war goats!!!! lol

I like the fellowship the best.

It's about the forging of friendships and how valuable those are and I love that.

I like TTT the best. 1) FARAMIR!!! 2) Rohan/horses/Eomer and Gimli banter! and 3) No one important dies! It's the least depressing. I get really tired of crying in movies.

Lol Well, I am sure you could but I don't know that the actual poll will allow it. ;)

I must say that, as LoTR is NOT a trilogy, but one huge book which was published in three installments due to the cost of paper in post-WWII England (main reason, anyway), so I also consider the three LoTR movies to be one (awfully) long movie, in the EE version over eleven hours, thus needing very many intermissions. That it ended up as three films (three books, three films – duh?) was a bit more complicated, but never mind. The Hobbit as three installments makes far less sense, seeing as it needed a ton of padding – some to be found in later writings by JRRT to harmonize TH with LoTR, and quite a bit of Boyens / Jackson / Walsh (and del Toro?) – to reach its almost nine hours in EE format.

Of course TH as movie had to be lifted to a LoTR level from its children’s book origins (though the book was and is also unusual in some aspects for a children’s book). So it was clear to me that it would be much more of a fan-fic than PJ could dare to do with LoTR (back in 2001 ff there were dozens of millions – maybe more than 100 million? – readers ready to come down on him like a ton of bricks had he strayed too far).

I enjoyed both (monster-long) movies, having quite different expectations for each. Still I would put LoTR before TH, and I’m guessing that one reason is that PJ & Co. just had so much more original LoTR material to work with; the parts where they did stray were usually the parts that I found less satisfactory. Since they had such a mass of “original” writing to do for TH, it shows – they are just not nearly on a par with JRRT. What one can gather from the appendices of the EEs is also the fact that the confused and drawn-out process until they got down to filming also didn’t help. PJ especially was not nearly as prepared to direct TH as he had been with LoTR, and was – his own words – occasionally “winging it” almost on a day-to-day basis.

Perhaps (I repeat, perhaps!) that was the reason for the entirely different performance of the three installments of the films at the Academy Awards (Oscars), especially the monumental, record-tying eleven-for-eleven sweep 2004 (which I saw live, astonishingly waking up without having set an alarm clock, from about 4 AM here in Germany).

Technically there are 'six' books as printed. ;)

As for the movies... Born of Hope
