What is the DVD content, and does it make spending $200.00 worth it?

The DVD is all of the music from the three CDs in high quality sound. It's good stuff. You'd have to be pretty serious about the music to spend the money, but I guess I was.

Kudos to Kitoky for the fabulous signature set, and art credit to engelszorn.

I was lucky enough to get it the complete TT soundtrack for Christmas. My sister wanted an external hard drive for her laptop, and so I grabbed my chance and got my parents to get it for me! (I bought the complete FotR myself in November 05).
I found, though, that the booklet that comes with them is nothing like the free downloadable version that is on the official site http://lordoftherings-soundtrack.com/. The downloadable version is a PDF document that has details of each track, while the book that came with my CD's is a bit more vague breaking down the music into themes. I downloaded that before I even had the CD!
I would have bought it myself had Christmas not stepped in as I know that I will listen to the music alot. I wished when I got the original CD's that some of the music that wasn't there was available (like the music that heralds the arrival of Shadowfax) so they were worth it for me.
As for the Symphony, I'd love to see it performed, but I wish I could be in a choir that could sing some of that fabulous choral stuff!

Mablung, you would love the Symphony! I've been at four events, and I will be going again to Louisville, Ky. later this month. I've had the great privilege to have met Howard Shore and heard him conduct two of the symphonies! He is a fantastic conductor!

Just where do get money like that?! Thats my entire monthly salary to buy all that music. I also need (want) to get the complete "Princess Mononoke" soundtrack for about $40.00. *sigh* If wishes were horses...

Yes, I actually met him first in Atlanta in 2004 and in Chicago 2005. I almost forgot, Cleveland this past February. I have a great picture of us together but I'm not sure where to post it. Here?

Were you there February of 2006? I was there with two friends of mine. I have attended 4 performances of the LOTR symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra was the BEST one I have heard so far! I'm going to Louisville on the 19th. once again.

I did go in February. It was amazing, I loved it! I went with my mom, and she said that she was watching me and that I never moved a muscle the entire performance. Did you stay for the Q&A session afterwards?

Wow, those are great pictures!
You were sitting a lot closer than I was, I was on the left side (if you're facing the stage) and I was toward the back.
I do remember that he was there.
One thing that I remember that I really liked was how they used colors to protray emotions and what not.

The young lady in the picture is Kaitlyn Lusk. She is only on her late teens. She did a fine job, though I wish she had projected her voice more. Now the other Soloist that I have seen in the past that was outstanding was Sissel, born in Scandinavia. She really was the better of the two. Her 'Into the West' and Gollum,s Song, were fantastic!
