Sorry in advance if I'm not posting in the right section or if this topic already exists.

So board games...Are you playing board games? Which are your favourites? Any recommendations? :goofy:

I've started playing board games around a year and a half ago. My friends got me hooked up after many tries. :D At first I wasn't very interested but after my first visit at the local board game café I realised how fun they are. The only problem is they're usually time consuming. I believe we've never finished a game for the time shown on the box. :D But almost every weekend my friends organise board gaming event and I join them whenever I can.

So far I've played Ticket to Ride - Anniversary Edition, Europe, Germany; Betrayal in the House on the Hill; Pandemic; Dixit; Exploding Kittens; Smallworld; Starflux ; and of course Cards against Humanity. ;P One time we almost got to play Alchemists buuuut the set up took too long, so I had to pass. And I'm probably missing some to add to the list. Out of those I can say that Ticket to Ride, Betrayal and CAH are my favourites.

I like a lot of board games but most of all I've played clasics like Chess (can be hard but great fun) Chinese Checkers, manopoly, (The star wars ir LOTR manopoly was so much fun!) I've also played a board game called "The farming Game" it was a lot of fun too. It's been forever since I played that game! The game of life is another fun board game.

One thing I have always wanted to try, but never had anyone else interested in trying it with, is a table top RP game. Those sound like great fun, but never had any groups in my area.

I LOVE board games!! I grew up in a family of gamers, so I guess it's in the blood. :p Some of my favorites have been Sentinels of the Multiverse, a cooperative superhero game; Splendor, a strategy game about gems; and Nerts, a card game of speed and reflexes.

A lot of the games I like to play were discovered on a YouTube channel called TableTop, hosted by Will Wheaton, which is basically a bunch of millennials playing indie board games. Love it!

Elenthari, I loved exploding kittens! That's a great game, if only for the captions on the cards :p. Btw, have you ever won pandemic? Ive always been foiled by an ill-timed epidemic, and lost quickly.

@Jax: I like classic board games as well. I enjoy Chess very much although I'm not an experienced player. I never got around the various strategies and I can only plan for 3-4 turns ahead. I consider myself good at Backgammon though! :P Where I live it's a very common game to play. We even have different variants of the rules for different Backgammon-type games. Question: Do you have different rules for Backgammon, aside from the standard ones?

@ Healic: Table Top is an excellent board game-guide. Often we choose what to play based on their reviews! :D The only downside is sometimes it takes a while for a game, esp. the indie ones, to reach the Bulgarian market. But when it arrives we try it right away. :P

Yes, we've won Pandemic once. It was the first time I've ever played the game actually. We were 5 people with very suitable roles for the game scenario. I was an "Operations Expert" and made it easier for the others to manage the outbreaks.

Have you heard of Organ attack - indie card game by Nick Seluk (The Awkward Yeti)? It's going to be somewhat like Exploding Kittens. :P

I hadn't heard of Organ Attack. If it's anything like exploding kittens, it'll be great though!

It should be on the market early next year, I believe. I can't wait to try it out myself. :D

I just played Mysterium last night - it's a pretty decent coop game. :) It's something like a mix between Betrayal and Dixit. I recommend it. :)

I am by no means an advanced player at chess either. I never messed a lot with strategy and 3-4 moves ahead sounds about right for me too. lol But it was been a while since I played that even.

Honestly I have never played backgamman at all... lol I have no idea on any of the rules. :P

Board Games.... Chess, Backgammon, Monopoly, Life, Cribbage....
I think the last board game I played is Feds & Heads... an old late 1960's counterculture game based loosely on Monopoly.
I found a PDF of it someone had scanned of an original game.

Oh man, my family is a HUGE board game-playing family. I grew up with tons of board games in the house that we would often play. We would always add rules to board games to make them more interesting or challenging. We even made our own board games (that we still play).

My favorite ones would have to be Ticket to Ride, Risk, Clue/Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit, Nationalencyklopedin, Scotland Yard, Bondespelet and Ostindiska Kompaniet.

Yeah, that game was tons of fun. It just adds a new dimention to manopoly that the original game does not have.

I never had the risk but my sister had the LOTR risk so I got to play it several times. It was tons of fun!

Me too! I need to get The Hobbit one now.

Is the Hobbit one any different other than just the obvious theme?

It would be neat if they made them to where you could start with the hobbit board and once you owned the entire board you could add the other LOTR board and use both boards at the same time and play like a version of "Extreme Monopoly" or something! lol

I have no idea. I haven't actually seen it. I don't remember much of what my Lord of the Rings Monopoly looks like. I never open it and look. I know there are different versions of it. There was talk about Tolkien board games on an episode of TheOneRing.net's TORn Tuesday shows. The different versions of Monopoly and which pieces were in which one. There's some really old Tolkien boards games out there, I've learned.

Yeah, I could see people buying multiple games for all the playing oeaces.

Hm, interesting. The old tolkien board games sound intriguing.
