I was thinking about making carving an Elvish type sword out of wood (something to do while I'm bored. ) I wanted to do some inscribing on it in elvish (for authenticity) how would you translate "This sword serves ____"? And does anybody have any suggestions for the sword's name? I had thought 'Shadowbane' was cool, but what do you think?

I'm ashamed to be asking this since I speak in both Quenya and Sindarian, but it's gotten really rusty lately. Can someone please translate: "Eternally Bound" into...Quenya? You can PM me the answer or just post it here, watever works for you!
Hannon le! (its one of the few words I remember!)

Okay I'll answer as much as I can (i'm only a beginner correct me if i'm wrong)
I can get 'Life has no point without thou' in Quenya but not Sindarin
coi vanwa ilye til ar lye i could not find 'meaning' in Quenya
of in Quenya is -ello or -eva.
Haldir means Tallwatcher and is tall watcher. Halla = tall and dir = watch

Ah, so how would I say Star Maiden of Star Opening? Elenwe is Star Maiden, Undome is Star Opening, but how would I put of in the middle? It looks confusing!

Undome and Elenwe. Well there are many possibilities. But you don't add the actual word 'of' into many names. I think you could maybe say Elenwello Undome but in many of Tolkiens names. Like Atanatar. Atan is man and atar is father but Atanatar means Father of Men. you could try Undomeelenwe but the two e's are not norma. Really you can do whatever you want from there. I would go with 'Undomlenwe'. But once again I'm only a begginer so if i'm wrong someone correct me.
Haladir is Quenya. You can't translate it into Quenya because it is Quenya. Just like you can't translate 'good day' into English because it is English. Sorry if I was a bit confusing.
I can't find Elvish words for 'eternally bound' or for the synonymes that I can think of. I'm sure there are other people that can help you.
This Sword = 'hi megil' (in Sindarin) but I need a synonym for serves

Thanks Elda for your help, I think I'll just stick to Elenwe Undome.

Tall in Quenya is Halla. Dir is for watch in both Quenya and Sindarin. That's as much as I know.
I can't translate Haldir into Quenya. I can't do what you want. Sorry. Hope someone else can. [/i]

On 'eternally bound' what do you need it for. Can you try synonymes or rephrasing it?
