In Sindarin, when you want to make a verb end in ly, what do you add to the verb to make it end in ly? Like in English when you want swift to become swiftly, you just add the ly. What do you do in Sindarin for the ly? The verb I need to end in ly is: Celeg. It means swift or fast. I will greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!

... And by verb you mean adjective? But at any rate, there doesn't seem to be a special adverbial ending attached to adjectives like there was in Quenya. |

I should clarify (I was a bit off). In Quenya, there is -vë, which has been long theorized to be able to turn adjectives into adverbs. However, we only see that in one word: andave in RotK, and possibly the Noldorin word godrebh from *wo-tre-be. Other adverbs without -vë are common, like S. mae "well" and Q. mai instead of !máravë, lai "very", amba "up(wards)", oa(r) "away", nún "down below, underneath", aqua "completely", illumë "always", oi(o) "ever", opo "after", sië "thus", síra "today", etc. So my previous statement about there being a suffix for adverbs is incorrect. However, it may still exist for adverbs which have been derived from adjectives. |
