Hiya everyone, I have been trying to find the Sindarin translation for Enya (my 3 year old daughter.) It means Little Fire in Irish. I have come up with:
Little - tithen Fire - Naur
But am unsure of how they go together.
Also on the council of Elrond name database it comes up with Noreg or Nordithen.
Sindarin Naureg or Noreg is nice I think... I know a person [from Ireland] named Morag, although it's all personal taste of course. The Sindar also had a name for the bright-eyed Noldor from Aman: Lechind 'flame eyed'... seemingly leaving us with lach 'flame' too. Hmm.
Anyway, maybe *Tithenor [primary stress on first syllable]? This switches the adjective compared to *Nordithen, but I think adjective first is not impossible in Sindarin compound names -- especially with colour-words in any case [Nimloth].
