"life lost all meaning without you"

In Sindarin:

Cuil _____ pân ind pen le

The only lost I could find was in Quenya and it wasn't in the book written by David Salo.
In Quenya it is Vanwa

Yeah, there's no word for 'to lose" in Sindarin. But, there's a better way around this. "Life loses meaning" is an expression/turn of phrase that would be pretty foreign to an Elf. (I don't think the "meaning of life" is a question oft pondered by Elven philosophers) Translating the concept instead, you could say, "Life is joyless, without you." or what might be better, "my heart is joyless without you."

I'd translate that as "Cuil pen-glass, pe-len." and the later sentence: "Ind nîn pen-glass, pe-len."

I'm sorry if this has already been asked before( I'm new  ),but could someone be kind enough to translate the word "Smile" into some form of Elvish?(Or is it Elfish? I can never remember which one is the one Tolkien intended but was changed via the publisher?). Anyways, thank you for any help you can give me! :bye2:

Hey all! I would be happy to help you with translations as well, though I may need some as well since I am not fully experienced in Elvish sorry. Also, I only do regular Elvish, sorry (like, the one on the section Elvish on A-U homepage) And I may occasionally get stuck and ask for help translating stuff.
Hope to help!

I have another query in regards to a name.

I found several female names relating to waterfalls (Vanlanthiriel, Vanyalanthiriel; which apparently both mean "beautiful waterfall"), but nothing quite like what I'm looking for. I need a name that means something along the lines of "heart of the waterfall", "spirit of the waterfall" or even "heart/spirit of water", or "heart/spirit of the spring". Could also be "pure water", "divine water", or anything that sounds fitting. It will be the name of a female deity who is essentially an Undine.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a lot of words for Mother in Quenya.
Quenya:
amal/emel/amil/emil/ontarë/ontaril/ontarië lócion
Sindarin:
Naneth/Odhril-i-Lŷg

Oh wow, those are some terrible translations. Mixed languages and so long and clumsy! First, let's correct the original translations.
Lant-hir is the word for "Waterfall", an Exilic-Sindarin word, so we'll do Exilic Sindarin. "Beautiful" would be "bain" or "bân" or "dail/deil". Now, without adding any gender suffixes, you'd get these, with a more Exilic flavor:
Bainlanthir
Banlanthir
Deillanthir

There's no word for "waterfall" in Quenya, so we'll skip Quenya.

"Heart of the Waterfall"
Enedlanthir - Center of the Waterfall
Indlanthir - Emotional center/Mind of the Waterfall
Gúrlanthir - Conscience of the Waterfall

"Spirit of the Waterfall"
Faerlanthir
Faelanthir

For the rest of them, because we have the vocabulary, I'll do both Sindarin and Quenya, Exilic dialects for both.

"Spirit of Water"
Sindarin:
Faenen
Faernen
Quenya:
Fëanen

"Heart of Water"
Sindarin:
Enenen - Center of Water
Innen - Emotional center/Mind of Water
Gúrnen - Conscience of Water
Quenya:
Endenen - Center of Water
Indonen - Emotional center/Mind of Water
Órenen - Conscience of Water

I have no idea what exactly you mean when referring to "pure", so I'll let you define it if none of these names are fitting.

"Divine Water" - The Tolkien-Elvish words that are bound with this concept are deeply imbedded in the lore of Arda, and may not translate very well into whatever canon you're writing in.
Sindarin:
Balnen - Power (a term for the members of Arda's Pantheon) Water
Quenya:
Valanen - Power Water
Valainanen - Water of the Powers

How's that?

For 'Mother of Dragons' I had Neo-quenya:

Amil Lócion (or Amil Lókion if you like the look better in the Roman Alphabet)

And Neo-sindarin:

Naneth Emlyg

Of course 'DF' did a lot more work than I did :-D

My Sindarin is a bit different because I used longer amlug (singular, but you wanted plural of course) and did not choose a genitive article.

And don't worry about the Neo- part; as unless Tolkien himself wrote something, I often call it Neo-Elvish (long story).

Faelanthir sounds nice, especially with the added coincidence that this particular Goddess is associated with the Faerie race. A feminine suffix is -iel, right? So, Faelanthiriel?

If you like a given name better without -iel or -(g)wen tacked on (for examples), I don't think it's necessary to add these for a female (not that you said it was necessary); noting a few instances from Tolkien like Nimloth, Mithrellas or Gilraen.

Adding syllables can change primary stress too: faelAnthir as opposed to faelanthIriel. I'm not saying one is necessarily better than the other with respect to stress or sound in general (which would be fairly subjective in any case), I'm just saying this is a factor to possibly consider or keep in mind.

How do you say "there were two penguins in a bathtub and one says to the other 'can you pass the soap?' and the second one says 'what do I look like a radio?"

I realize that's probably hard to translate but it would be amazing if I could get something.

Preferably translated in Quenya but sindarin is fine.
