I noticed that some of us have set up an Elvish lesson thread, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I am eager to learn Elvish, and maybe we can organise some proper lessons. I have an Elvish lesson i downloaded from the net, but it's so hard to stay dedicated without schedualed lessons. Like at school we do actually learn stuff, *gasp* becasude we're always there.

I think we'll work on which dialect to learn at a later date, but i'm thinking Quenya, then Sindarin, so it's sort of in the historical order.

So we're gonna need a list of students and a teacher or two, so if anyone is interested in some lessons, post here and anyone who wants to volunter for Professor "...", emails in me profile!

Man, i feel really stupid now you know... like, embarissed...

I agree. Learning elvish with a kind of theacher would be great. I once learned to write the letters in Elvish so I could talk in class with one of my friends... But that's about all... But, yes, I can't wait to start! :-D

I'll gladly assist in teaching Sindarin, but that Elvish thread you were talking about ... that was for people who already knew a slight bit of Elvish ... not for those who don't know any at all.

heres a sindarin textbook that a friend gave me ... shes excellent at sindarin and maybe this can help you people.

trust me when i say that its impossible to find a teacher in a forum that can teach properly. we'll end up with 10 pages of spamming the forum with the same message repeated over and over again while waiting for a teacher that will never come.

just follow the chapters on her site and you'll learn it in no time ...:: http://realelvish.tripod.com/your-sinda ... index.html

I think your major problem is that a lot of people claim they can speak Elvish (either Sindarin or Quenya) fluently, and can't. Only people like David Salo can speak Elvish nearly fluently, and it's not a completely language, so you can't really learn it that well. What you need is a humble person who's here just for the sake of teaching. So what about dropping the teacher idea and doing something we homeschoolers do, a co-op? Think cooperation. Why not do the CouncilofElrond.com textbook together, and ask for advice when you don't understand something?
