As for costuming, I'm working on finishing my princess seamed (blech, I can't stand the way princess seams look) practice dress.

*cries* The One Ring Celebration is too far away for me to go!!! In CALIFORNIA!!!! Even if I could get there I wouldn't be able to pay for it!!! Oh woe is me!!!! *sobs* I have a friend who's grandpa lives in California but I doubt I'd be able to "visit" him anytime soon..... *tears*.... Well I have my patterns now all I need is some fabric... but what would I wear it too?? *breaks out in sobs*
I've made a couple princes seam dresses... you're right, they don't look all that nice..... anyway... Thanks for the info on the RingCon....

I made a generic tunic pattern, *a VERY long one, knee length* and turned into a LOTResc tunic. I changed the neck to be more... practical, and I edged the whole thing with either a Mirkwood elf looking edging, or possibly a Rohirrim looking edging.
Soon I shall begin sewing together a cloak I want to make, agian, not a LOTR pattern, but a cloak is a cloak. Dark blue, crushed velvet, satin white lining. ARwen will be jealous... I might put some sort of iron on rhinestone design, should I find one worthy of it. Like that will happen...
For my junior/senior banquet I may make a LOTR dress instead of buying a formal. I think I have the skill, and if nothing else, it will help feed the flames of my LOTR obsession. There is no down side to this. 8)

Wow Lothril! The cloak sounds like it will be beautiful, crushed velvet is SOOO pretty and soft! And I love your idea of wearing a Lotr dress to your banquet instead of a formal! My school doesn't have banquet or prom or anything, but if they did I would do the same! We have a Renaissance Faire every spring so that's what I'll wear my dress too! Then all the guys go around bowing to you and calling you "Milady".... get's annoying after a bit *laughs merrily* Ah well.. what else are they here for? *grins*

Lady Lothoniel: I am not done with my cloak as yet. Should you like to know. But, I have cut everything out and pinned it. In it's unfinished form, it is quite nice. Unfortunately, trying to get a straight hem on this thing is nigh unto impossible. You see, I have no maniquin thing to hang it off of, so I must lay it upon the floor, or convince a sibling to stand there while I pin it. Ha! And little puppy dogs and pussy cats trying to use it as a bed is not helpful either.
*gives wicked glance over to sleeping dog* She's lucky she's cute, or she'd be in trouble...

Hee hee... I will probably have the same problems... I am planning on making a cloak myself... I have the pattern and am just waiting to get enough money to buy the material I want... I don't have any maniquin either... thanks for the idea of using a sib... I hadn't thought of that before... and I have plenty of sibs.. so that's not a problem... just finding a willing one is the challenge... well I hope you cloak turns out beautifully!
btw my name is L ithoniel not Lothoniel it's okay....

I'm sorry Lithoniel. I spelled it right this time, right? What kind of material are you looking at using? What pattern are you using? Just curious.

OoOoOoOohh! Sounds quite pretty! And I hope your dress turns out well. Very beautiful dress that was. May your sewing machine never rebel against you! And may your cloak and dress be cooperative! XD XD XD
I say this because my sewing machine can take a mind of its own and my cloak is only being semi-cooperative. XD

Beautiful dress! Being a hobbit, I could never wear it, but I can dream.
