^Thats so awesome!!
I wish I had a teacher that loved lotr so we could talk about it!
My friends dad actually loves all of the books. We talked about it sometimes, and he read them when he was a little boy. Im not sure if he saw the movies, but I think he did! :)

my old english teacher loves tolkien - we somehow got on to talking about him after class, and he said he thought he was a genius. he also said he thought harry potter was 2nd rate literature, which just goes to show he really does know what he's talking about *awaits abuse from hp fans*

i also had a supply teacher once who noticed i was reading the fellowship of the ring and so decided to give me a whole talk on how you can't fully appreciate it unless you've studied anglo-saxon culture. he also gave my sister a little lecture on how people never read the songs, and how they're missing out. to be fair, he did have a point on both occasions, but it did still freak us out a little (if you met him, you'd understand).

My 8th grade teacher was one of the original Tolkien fans :-D I went to his house one time and he had a HUGE antique sword collection, lots of first edition Lotr stuff, a suit of armor, and his dog's name is Mellon. We had Tolkien week in his class where we learned about the history of Lotr instead of real history.

He was actually a major contributor to my obsession since he was my teacher a couple of months after lotr came to theatres.

omgoodness that is so cool!
my english teacher told me that she read the hobbit over break and loves it and wants to read more tolkien!! i am so proud of myself for introducing her to tolkien! lol jk. :-D
