Guilty neither do I. I'm not very good at it. But that's not my point. Do you read it?

I do read fanfic, but there's a difference.
There are fanfics of the "Legolas appeared in my room" kind. That's ok and can be really really funny.
But there are also those disgusting parodies who try to make, for example, the Fellowship look as a mob of gays or whatever. And I totally hate that stuff, I you get my point.

(Sorry for my terrible english, I don't know what happened to me :annoyed:)

They've never bothered me at all. My friends and I have made up songs and parodies of LOTR and it's not because we hate it, obviously. We just think it's funny.

True they do make me cringe. Wince. Wimper. Alright I admit it scream and cry but I don't think they hate it. I think (ni offence at all to the persone who has written any like that) they a more twisted imajination(sp?) than others.

I can't use my friends because two of them are Ringers and I dragged them down kicking and screaming to watch the movies. But they do like The Ring. The horror film The Ring (although the One is pretty neat looking) but they make fun of it like there is no tomorrow!

some are quite funny. Their Taking the Hobbits to Isengard is a good one and lots of the written ones are amusing. well i think they are, the hand puppet theatre ones were good and so were they secret diaries of the fellowship.
i've never written lotr fanfic myself but that's usually because i'm too busy inventing a character i could play in potc, writing neopets fanfic or daydreaming about lotr. (its kind of fanfic only it stays in my head)

Thought I'd restate what I said before. :) I agree with ForeverFrodo.

I like some, if they're funny to me and not slash (I hate slash), and not, um, I don't know what I'm trying to say. But like RinielAranel said, if the person who made it understands LOTR and respects Tolkien, I appreciate the parodies more then. But if it's written by a person who doesn't like it and is just making fun of it cause they hate it, then I generally don't like it.

I nearly died last year on my 18th birthday when my dad bought me a book called The Soddit, and another called The Bored of the Rings. I sold them on ebay. I know he didn't realise i didn't like that sort of thing and i did ask him first if I could sell them and he was ok with it. i read a few chapters of each and was so annoyed by it.

I was also given a similar book... it was just so annoying, after I read the first chapter I just put it somewhere on my shelf..

lol I think it wouldn't look very good to have a book lying in our garden, it somehow wouldn't fit *gg* ( by the way it's funny to write a comment on something you said in English ;))

Aww I love Board of the Rings. I thought it was quite funny but obviously you and I have an differnt sense of humor when it comes to LOTR. I myself don't take parodies so seriously. They are just parodies after all and most likely the people making them like LOTR. Immatiation is the best for of flattery remember. I can't understand why people take it so seriously when it's just a joke.

Yes, but even jokes can hurt very much when they concern something that you really love...
