I like the lord of the rings because there is an Awesome world behind this and I want to discover it !!!

Well, I have thought a lot about why I like LotR so much now and I must say that answering the question would take me hours. There are so many major reasons why I like it and then of course there are also all these little things which make LotR so fantastic. I've always thought about one certain major aspect why I like LotR so much and I though hey - that probably is the major reason why you like it so much, but in fact I found heaps of them. That also makes it very difficult for me to explain my obsession to other people, because it would take a huge amount of time to explain it properly.

I like the book because of how incredible the storyline is and how intricate Tolkien's creation (Middle-earth) is. Also, his characters have shades of grey in their personalities - they're not perfect, they're human (or Hobbit, or whatever else, haha) and they make mistakes. You really connect with them and you feel for them. I seriously don't understand how anyone could hate the book (though I know some people who do, and when one of them said she did it hurt me, which tells you something about just how much I love it).
As for the movies, they are a cenimatic gem - beautiful sets and costumes, wonderful actors, and a great script with many lines straight from the book. And as my friend said: "They kept the spirit of Tolkien in the movies." I don't personally think that any other movie ever made can come close to how incredible these movies are...and same for the books and Tolkien's world.

Hmm..suppose I like LOTR because its Fantasy, and the plotline is incredible and Middle-Earth has so much detail-Tolkien created a whole new world. There are so many histories about people and such..like there is in our world.

Firaeya said it - the list ofgood things could just go on for ever! Middle Earth and all it's cultures is just my perfect world - even with sauron!! Even he's awesome!!!

I could not begin to start listing the reasons - i would be dead bfore i'd finished!!!

Well.. I just love everything!! I always loved fantasy stories, so one day my mom said to me, why won't you read LotR? Well.. I ended up seeing FotR first, and I completly loved it!! So I started to read the books, and I became totally in love with Lord of the Rings.. The story, The whole world behind it, the elves, the languages, the poems, the songs... everything!! It's just amazing!
