^Yup he did base Quenya on Finnish.
If you want to know more about Quenya (or Sindarin) I'm sure the great people in the Language forum would love to help you. At least they may hang out more, than here....  _________________ >>Be the change you wish to see in the world<<

Well I found out that (correct me if I'm wrong) a boat is vene in quenya and it is the same as finnish. Though the site I found that out isn't so trusthable.
