Post subject: 50 Reasons why Lord of the Rings sucks? Posted: June 16th, 2005, 4:12 pm |

Argh someone wrote this, I was a bit too angry beofre so I deleted al that red writing I did. Yea he hasnt done his research but oh well, it souinds complete nonsense anyways.
Fellowship of the Rings and Two Towers were shoved down our throats.
I've heard some students are even forced to read some monetization of the movie in their literature classes. Ridiculous. Does Hollywood run our classrooms now?
If they didn’t want to read it- they didn’t have to!
Greed.
Hollywood can't make a movie these days without crapping out a sequel the next year to squeeze more money out of the sheep. Guess what; there's ANOTHER LOTR movie coming this Christmas. Gee, I wonder what will bring Rocky out of retirement this time?
Um there are 3 LotR films- obviously there’s going to be 3 films!
Quality Control at New Line.
Millions of copies of the LOTR DVDs have thick black bars at the bottom and top of the screen throughout the film. Didn't anyone catch this? You know what happens at the end, in the extreme foreground and extreme upper sky? Neither do I. Bush league, guys.
Millions……really??
They switched Darren’s on us!
Look closely in Fellowship and you'll notice the human member of their party is played by two different actors at different points of the movie (it takes a sharp eye to notice, but one of them has red hair, one black).
Err….no
1. Quality Control at New Line, II.
In the massive Mt. Doom battle scene at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring, a DVD pause reveals at least half a dozen of the 50,000 Orc Warrior extras are wearing modern tennis shoes.
Again………..err…………….no- and if you hate it so much why do you watch it so carefully and for so many times?!
Speaking of Orcs...
The Orcs were obviously stolen from PC game maker Blizzard and its War craft series. Too bad Blizzard is apparently too scared to sue New Line over it.
You make it up by the bucket load!
Racism.
Percentage of protagonists in Fellowship who are white: 100. Meanwhile the black antagonists and their black crow spies and their black glass seeing ball inhabit their black towers and perform black magic. Gosh, I wonder if there's some symbolism there?
Its evil things for Christ sake- all evil is black- it’s not meant to be racist you idiot!
Gold: The Stretchy Element.
The ring, which is seen to be at least two inches in diameter at the beginning to fit the polish sausage-sized finger of Sauron, suddenly fits Frodo's child-sized finger later. I guess this movie takes place in a world where rings magically change sizes on their own.
Yes actually- it does change on its own
Violence.
Give me one reason that story couldn't have been told without all the fighting.
It’s a war you idiot- what are they going to do? Poke each other with feathers?
Horse sense.
Why didn't they take horses on their quest? Or even better, why didn't Gandalf's giant flying bird friend haul them into Mordor? Watch out, Frodo! All of your methods of transportation have been swallowed by the Dark Lord of the Plot Hole!
Well if they did that there would be no lord of the rings…ignoramus- there's got to be story!
Return of the Living Dead.
In FOTR, if you watch closely during the Inn scene, Frodo and his crew are shown getting stabbed by the Ring Wraiths. Then, five seconds later, they are fine again. Note to the director: try proofreading your movie before you release it to the public.
Frodo: gets stabbed “his crewâ€

That guy sure hasn't done research before he wrote that. He doesn't even seem to be aware there were books beofe the movies! And if he's watched it enough to notice (according to him) tennis shoes on the orcs, he should be able to notice that the ringwraiths stabbed PILLOWS, not HOBBITS! Was he going to the bathroom everytime that happened or something? And he doesn't seem to be aware that there are TWO! humans in the fellowship. And who wants to watch the fellowship going to the bathroom anyway?
I'm ok now, I just needed to vent! lol

Come to think of it, though, he probably just wrote it to tick of LotR fans. Or else he was bored.

Okay that guy is an idiot. As Elenya said, he seemed to watch it enough times to notice orcs wearing tennis shoes (yeah right i think one of us lotr fanatics would've noticed by now) yet not enough to notice really obvious things. Also he must live under a rock for past 60 yrs to not know that there were THREE books written 50 yurs ago and they were the most popular fantasy books ever (well maybe HP ties now or comes close) and so they decided to make movies off of them. Therefore you CANNOT leave out major characters from the book such as Gimli and major scenes such as Helm's Deep and Mines of Moria. GEEZ. IDIOT!! And that is just ignorance to say that the corn field scene was copied from Shrek. Shhrek only came out like a yr or so before FotR and they were already in the process of making the LotR movies way before that!!
Actually you know I find his ignorance pretty funny. I was laughing as I read the stuff Hattie posted. LOL

Not this thing again....
I siding with you, but the guy wrote it as a joke.
Quote: If you would like to contact Dr. Albert Oxford about this article...
...you can't. He doesn't exist. This article is a hoax.
Since I posted this in early 2002 I have received over 2,000 angry e-mails and over 50,000 angry message board posts, decrying Dr. Oxford's horrendous judgement in film. The site this article appears on is a comedy site and it was always supposed to be parody, but it's probably my fault for not labelling it properly.
If you are a Lord of the Rings fan and were fooled by this, there is only one thing that will make you feel better: giving the link to another fan so they can be fooled, too.
-DW
And you have to admit, it is kind of funny. And if he (or anyone, for that matter) doesn't like LotR, then it's their loss, not ours!

This was actually really funny. This guy had absolutely no clue about what he was writing. He didn't even seem to know that the LotR books exist.
It's stupid how he goes on about how the ring isn't believable cause it would never work, and how Gandalf's smoke rings aren't possible. It's called a FANTASY. If everything could be scientifically proven then it wouldn't be a FANTASY!
And the rascism thing. Well maybe they were all white because Middle-Earth is actually Europe thousands and thousands of years ago and white people come from you guessed it - Europe! It's not as if the "bad guys" weren't white.
It was also strange how he seemed to have spent so much time to see the supposed tennis shoes, yet he missed some very important parts in the storyline (Frodo and "his crew" actually being pillows, the fact that there are TWO men in the fellowship) Clearly this guy does not know how to watch a movie.
I LIKE the LotR movies and I could think of far better arguments of why they aren't good movies!
This has to be a joke. There's no way someone could actually be serious about this.

yeah, I was sorta ticked while I was reading it, but then later I was thinking about it, and it got more funny to me. If Aragorn's played by a monkey, all the men would have to be played by monkeys. "It is in monkeys that we must place our trust." just doesn't have the same ring to it. Plus, it'd be tough to teach a monkey to sword fight. I'm glad it's just a joke. lol

It's just silly fun Definitely not meant to be taken seriously! Kind of like "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" isn't a film that hasn't done research or hates King Arthur or is terribly misinformed or anything: they just wanted to make a funny parody. And I do think Ringers getting up in arms about it doesn't exactly discourage people from writing those kinds of spoofs. It makes it even funnier for them!

If the dude didn't like the movie, why did he waste his money and see it?
