Post subject:  Henna "9" symbol!
So one of my friends (Jean) does henna tattoos, and she offered to give me one for free. Of course I jumped at the chance to emulate the Fellowship cast, so I got one spelling "nine" in Tengwar. I thought I'd take a pic and share with y'all! :happy:

(I'm afraid to make it an image cause it's huge... :blush: and it's not terribly clear either, or as dark as I'd hoped. But still. :P)

That's awesome. :-D I'd love an Elvish tattoo but I don't like needles. *shudders* Btw, your friends name is also my name. :P

Henna doesn't need any niddle, that's what is great about it! Basically, it's a black paste that taints your skin for a limited time... :)

Once I made one of these, an elvish-like butterfly in my back, it last about 3 weeks, boy, I miss it! :-D

Exactly, that's the reason I wanted her to do it...needles are not happy things for me either. :yuck:

Yeah! And the thing is niddles=permanent tatoo! :confused2:

Henna permits a little bit of excentricity without any consequences! Perfect! ;)

I'd love to get a tatoo, but like you guys I'm not that fond of needles. And I can't have henna :(

I love henna.

And yeah, needles are evil... I start hyperventilating whenever there's one that's supposed to go into me... when I was 9 I almost fainted from gettign my blood drawn, too.

I don´t have any elven tatts, but I do have 5 others

1. a bow on my ankle (pink/purple)
2. a butterfly at the base of my back (black)
3. the arabic word for `dreams´ on my left hip (black)
4. a blood-red rose above the arabic ord
5. a twisting and twining vine w. leaves like a bracelet above my right wrist (blue/black/white)

For me there was no pain, despite the needles,
a little discomfort, but I love them all..!

I have considered getting one or two more,
and I would like for one of them to be an elven motive of some sort, maybe my name in elvish??
But it does take alot of consideration, since they are permanent, he he he

Wow, thats really neat! I would definately get a permanent tatoo of some kind if it was LotR related.

^I wanted to get "9" on my ankle or something, but then I read Sean Astin's autobiography and he said it really hurt... :blink:

The pain is relative, everyone re-acts differently...
the largest consideration is definately, whether or not to get a permanent tattoo.

Be careful about,
1. where you place it
2. make your mind-up after very carefully, considering everything..! :)

I want 'Haldir' tattooed across my back in tengwar with a pretty elven design surrounding it.. that'd be nice. My sister said she'd bring me to get one when I'm old enough :P
We also want to get matching Tolkien logos on our shoulder. (You know that awesome 'JRRT' thing?)
But Anië, yours is reeeeeeeeally cool. Henna's awesome, though I've never had it before. Over half the population in my school do henna for religious purposes, so I'm sure I could persuade a friend to do me one... XD
