Post subject:  Summerize LOTR In One Sentence
This was a "challenge" my dad gave my sisters and myself a couple of years ago (and for some reason I just remembered it now :blink: ). We were going over some book which said that any story has a basic (or main) plot which can be summerized in a sentence. The book then went on to give the summary of Cinderella, Snow White, etc.
"What about LOTR?", my sister asked.
So, we were supposed to come up with a one sentence summary of the main plot of LOTR.
My 3rd grader sister was the only one who could. And her sentences used to phrase "and then" quite often. :P
So, can anyone here come up with a sentence that summerizes the basic plot of LOTR. And wht is the main plot of it? :-D

Erm... its tough, but I'll give it a try! lol

The task of destroying the Ring, and through that, saving Middle-earth from evil falls upon a Hobbit, Frodo, and a group of brave friends.

Eh- not the greatest plot summary, but I didn't want to write a run-on sentence. lol

Let's see...this should be fun... :D

There is a great Ring that has the potential to destroy the world, and a Hobbit is the only one capable of ridding Middle-earth of this evil.

Oh, I stink at summerizing things! :duh: and what Anie and Elenya said was really good... how can I top that? but, let me see....

Middle-earth is threatened by a growing evil in the east when a lone Hobbit and his companions come forth to release the world of the powerful one Ring and it's evil maker.

:blush: sounds stupid compared to the other two but I gave it a good shot....

Hmm...The story in which nine companions and their allies must complete a perilous mission in order to destroy the one ring, the source of all evil, forever, and in doing so must fight wars, forge new allies, and embark on dangerous journeys.

Yeah, that's totally not a run-on sentence.

hmm.. that's really hard..
a story about a journey, made by nine companions to destroy the most evil thing on earth, that contains wisdom everyone can use for their lives.
ok, that probably was such a bad summary, but I'm not good at summarising stories.. especially not LotR
