Ok... so this is kinda weird... but I always wonder how to pronounce some of the names. Like Feanor. I always think of it as Fay-uh-nor... is that how it's supposed to be? Cause fee-nor and feh-ah-nor sound kinda weird to me.  And names like Sauron... I've heard it pronounced sore-on, sahr-on, and sou-ron! It's confusing! Anyone know how all the names are supposed to sound? |

There's a great pronunciation guide in the back of most copies of the Silmarillion.  I find the names impossible sometimes, too! In the end, I had to get the Silmarillion audio book to keep up with all the names and get the pronunciation right!I think you've got Feanor right.  ("Fay" as in hay?) And Sauron is pronounce "Sow-ron" with the ow as in town, according to the pronunciation guide I mentioned.

Ok, I have the sil... never looked in the back though. It's a pretty weird one... it says "lord of the rings" in runes on the cover! lol! I'll see if it has the pronunciation guide. I hope it does. |
