Post subject:  Tolkien Artwork/Artists
I'm having trouble finding some decent sized images of artwork from LOTR, specifically at the moment Sauron. I'm not even sure if an official Tolkien artist out there has ever drawn Sauron in any shape or form? I've tried googling some artists that I know, but I haven't found anything.

I guess if worst comes to worst, I'd have to use an unofficial image, but I was hoping there might be something I could use.

Any help will be much appreciated. I need some illustrations for the biographies on AU you see, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to find them all on my own. :-)

I know Alan lee, and or John Howe have done some but these were in the desifn process for the film so they look like film Sauron.

Im not sure how offical you'd class it but Warren Mahy's concept art for the films might help you out. He came up with a few design sketches for Sauron's armour. These are definitely in ' the Art of LotR' book but may also be in one of the galleries on the extended edition DVDs

Thanks! I'm really just looking to use images that clearly are not a photograph from the films, like we had on the bios previously.

I'll have a look on the DVD's and see. :-)

I've looked through all the "official" artists that I know of.

I can remember a website with a massive section of artwork... Quite a lot done by professional painters... As soon as I can remember the website I'll start looking :D
