Post subject:  How to represent the letter "x" in Tengwar?

So when I saw the Hobbit yesterday they gave everybody a free pack of posters. On the posters they've written "the hobbit an unexpected journey" on them but it's completely wrong. It either reads "teh hobbit na nuxeeepctd jonuey" or in the other mode "eth hbovit an uneeexpectd ojuney". (I think, if I've worked it out right. But it is wrong regardless.) Anyway, I realised that I had no idea how to write "x" in Tengwar and I think they've just made a random tengwa up for it.

So any ideas what to use for "x" when transcribing English into Tengwar?

I would say the tengwa quesse with a downward s-hook, for 'unexpected'.

By the way is that what the poster employed?

Also I just found this attested by Tolkien himself in 1948 [Christmas]: in letter 118 to Hugh Brogan Tolkien used quesse (number 4 in the chart in The Return of the King) with the 's hook' when writing the word 'explanations' there -- with sort of a 'leftward' s-hook beneath quesse.

That's my eksplanation anyway ;-)

Yeah, they have used that on the poster. But the rest of it is still wrong. At least I think it is. I'll take a photo of it sometime this week and post it here.
