Okay, my brothers make mean jokes about LotR a lot, for example:

Legolass (lass, like a girl, you know?)

Person 1: What do you get when you chop an Easterling in half?
Person 2: What?
Person 1: A halfling!

:frust: Any of you guys got more???

I make those jokes, I'm never the victim of them.

Well, I'M not the victim, it's just that to me it feels SO MEAN.

I guess it takes a certain type of humor to not be offended by things like that.

Actually if we are talking about fiction, I am not offended by offending fictional characters. They are not offending ME doing it, afterall.

I just don't find them funny, since I was raised to not make mean jokes.

I think there's a difference between sarcastic and poking fun jokes, and mean jokes. It's like how there's a complete difference between the way siblings bicker - which can sound totally horrific sometimes, but everyone knows it's not a reflection on any true feelings - and the way strangers argue. As with jokes in between friends versus jokes in between co-workers, for example. I think the jokes and the things me and my best friends say when we're together would make some people on this forum completely stunned - but on here I wouldn't use that same type of extreme humor because it would probably offend a lot of people. That doesn't mean that what me and my friends does is mean; it just means that to anyone with a different type of humor it would be perceived that way.

The same goes for making jokes about movies, actors, etc, etc, etc. I can make fun of everything and everyone - including things I love, people I love, and myself. In spite of what my words are, the jokes aren't mean and neither are my intentions. And then there are people who says things about movies without humor, only to make sure that anyone who hears it will be offended and hurt. There's a difference.

I don't do mean jokes. I used to do it a lot when I was younger but now I limit myself to less harmful ones. I think it affects my family more than I thought.

My brother does a mash up of LotR in 99 seconds where the characters morph into Avengers!!! I love Avengers too, but dude, you're going way too far! For example, in the line "Legolas surfs down a shield to defend (Helm's Deep)" Master_Dwarf sings: "Legolas simply morphs into Hawkeye!"

So annoying.

Correct!

And there's this part where Theoden morphs into Nick Fury and instead of the part where they name the characters:

One last battle, Gandalf morphs into Loki
Frodo you must destroy Loki and Hawkeye!

Also, my younger brother sings "Into the West" incorrectly. Instead of "Across the sea, a pale moon rises," he says "Across the sea, a pail of water."

It's worse when it's LegoLASS.
And they stress "LASS". Even my younger sister does that.
:annoyed: :disgust: :confuzzled: :grr:
AGH.
AND Master_Dwarf always says "waterMELLON". Stressing the "MELLON" of course.
most annoying thing in the world.

Isn't it spelled 'mellon'? I don't actually know :P What's "The Cold Hard Lands"??
One of the best things that's ever happened to me was that my brothers stopped singing Gollum's Song.
But Master_Dwarf never quits imitating Gollum!
UGH.
