I found this at another site, specifically a CSI forum site but who knows.

It's basically like writing letters to the characters from character or you can do it as your own, it really doesn't matter. I'll do an example.

Dear Gimli,

Would you stop using my brush? I can't stand leaving hair in the bristles.

Truly,
Legolas

Dear Vala,

Why did you have to go and send me back! I now have arthritis and back pains from that blasted fight in Minas Tirith! I hope you're happy!

Respectfully,
Gandalf

P.S. You wouldn't happen to have Bayer in the Grey Havens would you?

:-D *book context*

Dear Aragorn,

I think the house cleaner dropped a small, unimportant artifact [sometimes called a palantir] somewhere down near you, last time you visited.

If you've seen it around could you... email me back ASAP?

Cheers!

Saruman

Saruman,

No, I don't think I saw an unimportant object, which is sometimes called a palantir. You could check with Sauron though. But I think he's out of town. Again.

Westu Hal,
Aragorn

P.S. You probably don't know what 'Westu Hal' means. Haha.

Dear Aragorn,

I tried Sauron... but his line was disconnected. Perhaps they got his too? Filthy little thieves! :disgust:

P.S. Lle naa haran e' nausalle [you are a King in your imagination] < beat that, junior.

Saruman,

Alright! I confess! I have your palantir! You hear me? But it's unimportant, so I'm going to give it to my son as a toy. Isn't he adorable? Oh btw, his 2nd birthday is coming up. I expect a card. Or maybe you could send one of those cool machines over. That'd be great.

Aragorn

P.S. Dang!

Dear Legolas,

I am so not using your brush... I mean, look at my hair, does it look brushed? Must be them hobbits again, and their furry feet.

Yours in indignation,
Gimli

Dear Gimli,

I am never using this brush again.

Disgusted,
Legolas

Hey Pip,

Where'd that great brush you find the other day go? My foot fur is all tangly.

Merry.

Dear Merry,

I intercepted your last note to Pip. I had the brush and I have enclosed it.

Gandalf.

PS. Shadowfax loved it :)

Dear Merry,

I don't really know, Merry. I left it in the sleeping room and the next thing I know it, it's gone! We really must try and get one of those, Merry. Do you think they sell it as a souvenier here in Minas Tirith?

Curious,
Pip

P.S. We really must stop exchanging letters through that shoot down the hall.

Dear Guildmaster.

Our stock of brushes has been depleted by a number of foreigners.. an elf and some halflings. They came and bought many apiece, claiming theft and other unpleasant things. Might I humbly suggest you let the guards know of this?

Respectfully,
Guild of Gondorian Brushmakers Underling.

Dear Guards of Minas Tirith,

There have been thieving elves and hobbits in the city. Watch out for them. Dare ask which 'elves and hobbits' and I will make sure you're all fired.

With thanks,
Guildmaster

Dear Gandalf,

I have just received the oddest order. We are to watch out for 'thieving hobbits and elves' in the city. But... I AM a hobbit!! What's all this mess? Has it got anything to do with us?

Confused,
Pippin

Dear Manwe,

Stop telling your blasted eagles to fly all over my palace! They're making an absolute mess of the garden!

Angrily yours,

Pippin,

No, it does not mean to watch ourselves! If we watch ourselves all day, we won't be doing any good! It'd be boredom!

[insert whatever relation I have with you here],
Merry.

Dear father,

I lost my beautiful elven brush to the fellowship. None of those I've found since are nearly as good. My hair is horrible. And here I am wasting my time in this crude city of men.. but.. why do I feel like I'm being watched?
