I've been thinking...when I'm older, I might like LotR as much as I do now, if not more. If I like it enough, I could even name my child something after it. So I got to thinking...what?

Here's where you just tell all the LotR names you can think of...

I think they're sort of in different categories. There are the common names (Sam, Rosie), ones that are accepted, but a bit unusual, and the really out there ones ("Aragorn Smith").

One name that I heard recently was Rohan. I think that sounds okay.

i think Bard is a cool name for a boy (like king Bard from the hobbit?)...it also has a certain 'poetic' feel to it without sounding too feminine

If I have a boy and a girl I will definitely have their middle names Beren and Luthien. First names probably from my favorite children's books author Astrid Lindgren.

It is a nice thing to think about but I agree with EruisseEnethNin Luthen and Beren Would be awsome names. Of course they are Tolkien came up with them. I would be suprised if I had kids. I'd be suprised to have a boyfriend! The last guy that asked me out he did it while I was being a pigon!

I think changing my name to something actually FROM Lord of the Rings would be a bit extreme, but there are so many names that come from different cultures, Celtic names etc, that sound so similiar to the cultures in LOTR.

One example is the celtic name 'Edana' which I used for a Rohan character I created. It's Celtic but fits in so well with the warrior people.

If I had kids I would love to give them LotR names, but not to extreme. Sam or Rosie is always possible but Elanor is also nice. Personally I love the name Finduilas, but I think that's to extreme.

I think Samwise would be a great name, he could just go by Sam. I also love Eldarion (sp?) as a middle name.

hmm...I like Melian (for a girl obviously) and Luthien would be nice too...

For a boy I like Beren....and Eldarion sounds kinda nice too, especially as a middle name :-). Samwise (Sam) is good.

I agree with some of the people earlier: I would want to maybe name one of my kids something Tolkienish, but I wouldn't want to take it to too much of an extreme. The poor kid would probably just be made fun of. If I actually did name my kid something like this, I would make sure that there was some type of "normal"-sounding nickname that he or she could go by. But I think it would be cool for my kids to have "different" real names.

I've already decided to name my first girl Elanor because it's such a pretty sounding name. I also like Pippin, though I don't think I'll stick one of my kids with that name.

My mother has threatened not to talk to my children should they have strange names, or LOTR names, but I might sneak them in anyway.

Elanor Lothril, for example, sounds nice enough. (Lothril is not a character I know of, but I did create it from elvish words!) Or, James Eomer or something like that for my son. I think I'll try to sneak it in a middle name. Either that, or I'll name them something completely boring and call them by elvish names. HEHEHEHEHE! All of my children shall have elvish nick names. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Though, should you have just an obsession with elves, pick a name like Elwin, Elvis, and so forth. Almost every boy name that starts with El has something to do with elves. "Ruler of Elves", "Messenger of Elves" or something like that.
