that video makes me sick. i don't really want to say anymore than that, because i have strong political views on that, and i don't think we should discuss it. We don't want war in our own forum, do we? :P anyway, i find it disgusting to compare a literate work of art to a disaster like that. no more said. it's a delicate issue.

May I say something?

I don't think this person meant to offend anyone. They probably did not think of how other people might react to it. I'm not quite sure whether this person was trying to be funny, but I don't think so. There's nothing funny about 9/11. It could be that they were trying to put some kind of romantic twist on it. Sort of give the hope that we will unite and imerge victorious against evil like LotR. Or the person could have just been very shallow, and not know anything about Tolkien beyond the movies. Regardless, I do not think it should be taken very offensively, no matter how painful it is.

If they weren't trying to be funny then it's offensive to Muslims saying to "unite against the forces of Allah"

And if it is trying to be funny which I think is more likely then of course it's offensive to people who's loved ones died in 9/11.

Either way I don't think they care about what Tolkien thought it's just because of the similarity in the names that they made it.

It didn't upset me so much until the end when it showed the clips of the people jumping out of the windows. That really upset me and now I fell like crying. Whether the person meant to offened anyone or not, they did and next time they want to make a video they need to think about it more clearly.
