Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm extremely curious. Would you ever name your child or your pet after a Lord of the Rings character? And if so what character would if be.

I'm detirmined to have an Australian Cattle Dog named Samwise. :-D Their so cute.

Maybe I would call my pets after LotR names, but not a human, only as a nickname.
I know several people who call their dogs after LotR names, for example a tiny, cute, black dog owns the name of Sauron!

I think I would name a pet after LotR character, but mine already have a name, because I got them before I got to know LotR... I wouldn't name a human after a LotR character (not as a real name, as a nickname it would be good).

I have a dog who would be a good Pippin or Merry. lol
I don't know if I'd give my kid a LOTR first name, but possibly a middle or nickname. I think Rohan is a great name for a boy or girl. I've had other ideas, but I can't remember them right now! lol

My band director named his dog Strider :D

Personally I've never been able to get away with naming a pet anything LotR-related (it's what i get for being the only nerd in the family). I've always wanted to name a dog Pippin, and for some reason I've always thought Meriadoc was a good fish name (don't ask why...I don't really know). As far as giving a child a LotR name, I probably would (if left to my own devices), but nothing too nerdish. I've always liked the name Rowan for a girl, either as a middle name or a first name (yes, I know it's not specifically a LotR name, but it's close). I also really like Gilraen as a middle name. Really, though, it'll prbobably depend on if my husband is a fellow Ringer or not. I don't feel strongly enough about any of the names to insist upon using them, but I'd love to use them if I can :D

I've always thought of naming one of my pets Nienor or Melian, but I haven't gotten any knew pets as of late, so that wouldn't work.

I do believe if I had a girl I might name her Nienna, Yavanna, or Varda, and if I had a boy I might name him Lorien or Frodo.

Lorien would even work for a girls name too I think...

There were two baby ginea pigs born in our bio room, and my friend and I dubbed them Sam and Rosie, though the teacher insisted otherwise.

My dog is not NAMED Smeagol/Gollum, (her real name is Chase), but I call her that. The poor young puppy has epilepsy, she has seizures and seriously goes out of her body, I believe, and sometimes she gets a bad personality... :( Poor doggie!

And I am SO naming my first son Sam. I don't care what my husband says. I'm willing to go for Samuel instead of Samwise if I must, but he WILL be Sam! (gosh that sounds so...strange...haha)

I called my black cat Isfin... It means "Snow-locks" and I thought the ironical sound was fun... But it also means "Cunning spirit"= isn't it perfect for a cat?! ;)
