Titles: Queen of the Woodland Realm, Lady of Starlight.
Usage of name:
[*] Queen Lónannûniel
~ Only ever used when Thranduil is around.
[*] Lady Lónannûniel
~ Used my guards of the realm, or people from other elven kingdoms, when Thranduil isn't there.
~ The name she insists upon, with out all the honor titles. Rarely gets used, except for close friends.
[*] my starlight
~ An endearing term only used by Thranduil.
[*] "<insert name>, the Lady of Starlight."
~ How she is introduced at gatherings, to people she is meeting for the first time. Other people tend to use this, not her specifically.
~ Her favourite of all her names, and only ever used by Legolas of course.
~ The name she was called in Gondor, to conceal her elven heritage. This name is still used by other races, outside of the elven realms.
Race: Sindar Elf.
- Dispute: Rumours have circulated many times, that she may in fact be half elven, due to her darker hair, opposed to the usual golden colour. Since no one now lives, that remembers her mother, the dispute was dropped, there for she is acknowledged as the same race of elves as her father.
[*] Thranduil (husband).
[*] Legolas (son.)
[*] Has a mother and a father, their names are lost to time.
Weapons: A dagger. Has a bow and a quiver of arrows, but only uses them when needs must.
Fighting Style: She tends to carry weapons that can be concealed, to give off the impression that she is unable to fight, to lull her enemy into a false sense of security. Lónannûniel is capable of defending herself, but is allowed little time to practise within the realm. Since whenever there is the opportunity for her to fight, there is always a guard around to lay their life on the line, before she can even reach for her dagger. Most of her skills are developed, during her dissappearances.
[*] A wooden flute
~ Hand carved from the wood of a tree from Mirkwood, back when it was named Greenwood the Great.
Personality: Queen Lónannûniel is a gentle soul. Often happy surrounded by the sounds of nature. Or singing aloud, in solitude. However the Realm is often filled with the many quarrels of her and her husband, which would give off the impression that she was argumentative and as ill-tempered. Truthfully, she is just as stubborn as the king, and refuses to take on the role as his pretty little queen and nothing more. There is however some truth in her rebellious nature, as she will often try to intentionally lose the trail of the guards Thranduil has sent after her, or disobey his orders if she does not want to follow them. She just wants to be treated as equal.
Appearance: ♠ Adventure Garb ♥ Royal Attire ♦ Casual Clothes ♣ Party Attire ♪ Alternate Royal Attire ♫
Lónannûniel's attire always consists of delicately made intricate gowns. Outfits she chooses for herself, that her personal tailor is more than happy make for her. In everything she wears, she always has at least one flower or leaf either in her gowns, or decorating her hair. Her hair always has a single braid, that is never decorated with beads.
History: Lónannûniel was taken to Gondor, where she was raised during her years of infancy. Her mother was killed or disappeared when she was very young. Her mother's true fate was never discovered. During the War of the Last Alliance, her father fell in battle by the enemy's sword. From then on, it is unknown what exactly happened to her. Rumours spread through the kingdoms of men, of a young unaging woman, wandering through woodlands at night, singing of sorrows and loss.
It appeared that Lónannûniel herself had disappeared entirely, until she turned up in Rivendell. Her stay there was very short, only a summer at most. No one was told of the things she had seen, or the places she had visited. After leaving Rivendell, her journey took her north across the Misty Mountains. Having been so isolated from her kind, she was not aware of the elves of Mirkwood, or other realms claimed by her kind. While walking along the river, towards the Woodland Realm, she had a chance encounter with Thranduil. He had heard her singing, and stopped to listen. He thought her a trick of the eyes at first, or perhaps a fallen star. Since then, he has called her "my starlight." The Elven King thought it refreshing, that she did not recognise him, or even seem familiar with his name. She was welcomed into the Woodland Realm, but she had no real reason to stay. After a few weeks passed, she had made up her own mind, that she would head to the east, and leave from the Grey Havens. Thranduil on the other hand refused to let her go. When she departed on horseback, he rode out after her. Caught up with her before she could reach the mountains, and asked her to stay in the Woodland Realm as his wife.
Having developed quite a fondness for the ill-tempered king, she agreed. Queen Lónannûniel has since then resided within the Woodland Realm, and given the king a son and heir, Legolas. From time to time, she does manage to slip away from the Realm, to explore different places of Middle Earth, but she always finds her way back again. Once, she managed to escape from the Woodland Realm for near a decade, long before Legolas was born. The only reason Thranduil found her, was because he had grown tired of guard failing to do so, he visited Elrond, to see if she would ever return. Elrond accidently revealed that she was in fact spending the week there in Rivendell, unaware that it was a secret.
Relationships With Other Characters:
~ The king and queen have a very complicated marriage. They fell in love way too quick, and pledged themselves to one another during that rush of feelings. Once the rush went away, they were left with the realisation, that they knew very little about one another. The quarrels begun. Thranduil wanted to protect her, and hide her away within the realm, where no one could ever harm her. Lónannûniel wants him to confide in her, like once did and treat him as an equal. Both sides are far too stubborn to give in, and often make rash decisions. If Lónannûniel did not run away sometimes, to allow them time away from one another, their marriage most likely would not have lasted. Deep down, far where she would never admit, she likes that Thranduil searches for her. It reminds her that he still cares.
~ Just like any other caring mother, she dotes on her son. Considers him a blessing. When he leaves to find his own way or goes on a little (or great) adventure, she worries about him endlessly. Nothing would please her more than to see him find a wife and have some children of his own.
~ Over the years, Lónannûniel has developed quite a friendship with him over the long years. They rarely see each other, save for summer gatherings in Rivendell. There is an understanding between them. Sometimes when she leaves the Woodland Realm, she leaves her horse in Rivendell, and tells Elrond to wait a few months before allowing Thranduil to know that she has been sighted.
~ Lónannûniel does know her, but not familiar enough for them to form any kind of friendship. She does wish that Arwen and Legolas would pledge themselves to one another, but she has never told anyone this.
~ Has sometimes spoken to him, but nothing to important. Sometimes to pass messages onto Elrond, if she has to make a sudden exit from Rivendell.
[*] Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn
~ She sees them both from time to time, on her travels at gatherings. They have reached a first name basis, without the titles, but no real friendship has really come from it.
~ Has seen him in passing through Lothlorien, perhaps had a conversation or two, but nothing else beyond that.
