+History:

Fellowship:
Linny works at the Green Dragon as a waiter so that she can support her sister and stricken father as the eldest child. She's often late to work because Long Cleave is so far from the Inn, or because she sleeps in. This puts ALOT of pressure on her and she rarely gets enough sleep.
One cold night she was walking home from work when she got a ride from Farmer Maggot. There happened to be other hobbits on board already too. A few she recognized. When they were dropped off at Bucklebury Ferry, the other four Hobbits (one had met them there) were frightened and urged Linny to come with them because something dreadful was on the chase. Without knowing what she was getting herself into, she went with them to Crickhallow. Though she wanted to leave, a hobbit named Frodo wouldn't let her for fear of these 'shadowmen' that would catch her and make her tell where the others were. So, Linny demanded an answer and got it. She was to follow them now to the Prancing Pony, for she now knew of the Ring. (she recieved the purple choker from the Barrow Downs)
Linny is therefor bound to stay with them until Rivendell, where she wandered in the forest. As the Fellowship headed out, she feared they were leaving her and rushed after, thereby sealing her fate as one of them.
During the Breaking of the Fellowship, Linny was trying to watch after Pippin & Merry when the Orcs came and she fell down a hill, landing in a heap of leaves and cloak. When she woke, all that was left was three. And so she joined Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn to rescue Merry & Pippin.

Two Towers:
When the four of them reached the edge of Fangorn Forest, the first night there was dreadful. Linny was stricken with grief and wished to get away from it all, so she wandered into Fangorn. When the other three met Gandalf, he told them he had seen Linny and that they must let her go if all was to go as planned, so they did. That is when she met Elendraug, Bane of the Misty Mountains and Last of the Craigons. It was fate. And together they moved on towards battle, though they never showed up at Helm's Deep. They were busy taking care of the bands of travelling orcs and uruk-hai.

Return of the King:
Nothing is heard or seen of Linny and Elendraug until the day after Pippin first arrives at Minas Tirith. That is when they land there in the Kingdom and Linny is reunited with only Pippin. That is when her heart finally softens into a woman's kind heart. She realizes how much Pippin has changed already but he is frightened, so she becomes brave on his behalf. Linny wouldn't let the enemy take him again. But after a day or so of rest and visiting, Linny hopped once more on Elendraug and they took off to battle. They meet with the Rohirrim, where Elendraug is treated like royalty, despite not being genuinely equine. Pippin and Gandalf are shocked to see Elendraug and Linny helping lead in the Rohirrim on the Field of Pelennor into battle, where Elendraug can fly and fight with the Fell Beasts. At one point where Minas Tirith is under seige, Elendraug lets Linny down into the city to search for Pippin as she pleaded and then takes up battle himself in fighting the WitchKing.
Once that battle is won, Linny is finally reunited with all the Fellowship. That is when they head on to the Gates of Mordor and during that final battle Linny and Elendraug go up against all of the Fell Beasts. When the Towers fall, however, Elendraug is struck and both fall to the ground. Linny is nearly crushed, while Elendraug perishes. She is saved and all is well. She is honored by Minas Tirith with the other hobbits, and then they return to the Shire. Once home she takes up work again at the Green Dragon (with a broken arm) just as before and her father heals after being given elven medicine she recieved in Lothlorien.
Linny and Pippin are later married and have a son, Faramir.
((So, if Linny had such a big part to play in the LoTR then why is she never mentioned? It's because of a twentieth-century storyteller who was the latest to recount the tale, but without the inclusion of Linanthuen. Why? Because he believed that the story would be stronger with all male members of the Fellowship and that it would simply flow better. Besides, he liked the number 9 over 10, so, there you go. No Linny. But if you look in the far back appendices of the book, you'll see that she IS mentioned as Diamond of Long Cleave, who is wife of Peregrin and mother of Faramir, though he never mentions her full name which could simply be a matter of being forgotten over the ages, or as a prank to get back at all her sacasticism. xD But there you are, Linny's true story.))
