Waking with a start, Eleshna calmed somewhat at the familiar hold, but still the look of confusion remained etched upon her face as she allowed herself to slip back into her slumber.

A hooded figure, the edges of its black cloak almost seeming whispy, seemed to suddenly step up towards them, silences in his stride, stealth in his movements.

"What price would one pay to see the torment taken from another?" A deep voice asked from within the hood, the unseen gaze seeming to focus upon Jaden.

"I might be able to, but then again, it might cost a lot more than you could offer," His sly tone was rather easily dislikable. He stepped closer and crouched down near them.

Eleshna stirred and suddenly sat up, moving back from the cloaked man with a puzzled expression. He seemed strangely familiar to her, but she could not figure out how and why.

Eleshna gripped Jaden's hand firmly, her expression tense as she glanced towards the stranger who seemed to regard her for a moment with mild interest.

"Well, for one, I can remove the chance of the turnover to the side of the Shadows... but... it comes with a certain risk... and" Here he paused, seeming to smirk slightly. "A price only she can pay."

Eleshna remained silent, seeming to fear to speak, her eyes locked on the cloaked stranger, her hand holding to Jaden's still.

"Would you take on the authority of the Shadows then?" He asked Jaden with a raised brow, barely seen beneath the shadowing hood. He seemed amused, but interested.

"Call me... a gaurdian," he replied with a slight mysterious smile. "If they are not controlled, they will surely destroy much... and, if Eleshna here is not seen to properly, she will join in the effort of that destruction. Seems quite an excellent deal, now doesn't it?"

Eleshna looked at Jaden, confusion in her expression. She regarded the stranger for a moment. "What he says... is true..." she murmured.

The cloaked stranger smiled, as though triumphantly. "And I have no one else to put the task upon, so what is the verdict, my friend?" He questioned as he clasped his hands together and rested them on his one drawn up knee while the other knee supported him against the ground.

Eleshna trembled slightly, her gaze shifting uncomfortably. "No, you can't do it Jaden, I can't let you.... it'll only follow you for the rest of your days..."

"Well, time flies, and opportunities are easily missed," he spoke airily, "The first test would be a decent battle, one on one combat. And you're sure of taking on the task?" he questioned Jaden, seeming to be rather enjoying the situation for some unknown reason.
