Aedail nodded, gazing at the Easterlings intently. Look, Anak comes with his great bow...and behind him, they have managed to start a fire...Soon, their arrows will be flaming. However, I can do a bit to slow them. He raised one hand, slowly drawing water into the air. Turning into a translucent block of ice, it remained hung in place, controlled by the old man's thoughts. He cupped some water in his other hand and muttered a few words. Flinging the droplets from his hand toward the shore, he smiled grimly as they turned into shards of ice, heading straight for the archers.
(tell me if I ever start powerplaying, or whatever it's called.. )

I flew all the way from Texas to New England to spend two weeks with miss Nienor. 5 of those days were to survive on an uninhabited island. Booyah.

-Eh. Sorry for this, I'm kinda tired. -
As soon as Alassea was out of the boat, Enyalie reached for the abandoned oar and began to row. She was sure that she would not be able to match Valandil's powerful strokes, but at least they could get to the ship.

Alassea was indeed gratefull for the elderly man's magic, though it was a contradictory thing in itself. She despised magic for her own reasons, thinking it was a cowardly way out of things, but in this instance, her opinion shifted slightly.
She had not the time nor the energy to tell him thank you, so she instead continued swimming as fast as she could, sharing the load with Lairiel.
When at last they caught up with the small boat that Enyalie and Valandil were in, she used her free hand to grip the side of it.
Speaking to Valandil with what breath she had left she pushed the man infront of herself so that her brother could pull him up. " Here! Take him and we'll swim the rest of the way."
So as to help not tip the boat, Alassea delved under, swimming below the boat and resurfacing on the other side. Her long dark hair clung to the sides of her face as she gasped for air, putting her weight on the opposite side as Valandil hoisted the man into the boat.

Aedail's eyes widened as he watched the shore. A huge flaming bolt, more of a spear than arrow, sailed through the air, punching a trail through the ice shards before transfixing itself in the translucent block of ice floating in the air several feet from the boat. With a sickening crack a piece of ice with the arrow in it broke off and fell into the sea. Aedail closed his eyes and held his head in his weathered hands. If I can make this boat move faster... His thoughts were disturbed as another arrow sailed overhead before crashing several feet in front of the boat's prow. "Hold on," Aedail cried as he raised his arms. Making a trough below the bow of the boat and a wave beneath the rear may help us move forward...

Lairiel stared up at the man with wide eyes. She let go of the side of the small boat and pushed herself away gently. She wasn't exactly comfortable with magic and wasn't sure why.
She turned and saw the flaming arrows heading their direction. She wasn't comfortable with those either.
The man's gestures made her feel uneasy. He's helping us. Lairiel tried to assure herself. She looked away and to the ship they were moving toward. It seemed so far away...
She shoved her wet hair from her eyes and glanced at a piece of ice the man had created that was floating past her. She was anxious to get to the ship and leave these foul Easterlings behind.

Valandil exchanged a look with Enyalie, his handsome visage wrinkled in confusion; nevertheless, he obeyed the man's orders, and grasped the side of the boat.

Suddenly, a huge wave swept the boat (along with those swimming beside it) forward, swiftly propelling it toward the ship. A howl rose from the Easterlings on shore as they watched their quarry escape.

-Yessss....I was just hoping to get a better idea for a post. Eh. Forgive this one. -
She returned Valandil's glance, and barely had enough time to grasp the side of the boat, but a grin broke over her face as she heard the fury of the Easterlings. She turned her head to see Alassea and Lairiel swimming to the ship. Then, she released her hold on the boat and picked up the forgotten oar.

At this point it was not the problem of the icy waters, but the exhaustion. Alassea finally made it to the ship, her hands groping for the rope ladder that had been cast down earlier by herself. Pulling herself up, she stood for a moment on the ladder, clutching it and regaining her breath. The arrows ceased slightly, but the threat of the Easterling presence still urged her to haste.
Being "captain" of her ship, she could not board before her cargo...or perhaps that was the rule of being captain over your men? Either way, Alassea let herself plunge back into the water, one hand still holding onto the ladder as she waited for Lairiel and the rest to come.

[Okay Ann, here's my pathetic attempt at a post.]
Lairiel glanced over at Alassea as she gripped the rope ladder. Panting for breath, she nodded her thanks and ascended the ladder. She hoisted herself over the railing of the ship and staggered onboard. She put out her arms and caught the cold rail on the opposite side of the deck before she fell.
Weakly she turned and leaned back against the railing, waiting for the others to board. Lairiel brushed the wet strands of hair that stuck to the sides of her face aside and exhaled sharply. Hopefully there wouldn't be many more encounters with the Easterlings.

Aedail very carefully clambered up the ladder. It was only his second time on a ship, and he still wasn't used to the rocking motion...
