Star laughed, "Yeah well, neither did I, but I guess it's not that weird." Star noticed Meldawen's stiffness on the horse and her brow creased, "No offense, But have you ever ridden a horse before?"

(Sorry guys, work and such..... )

Idril remained relatively silent, handing out strips of dried beef, -which was as close as it got to beef jerky, but not as tasty- to the others, urging Princess forward and pulling her back occasionally in order to reach each person.

Eventually she settled in to riding beside Meldawen and Star, relaxed in the saddle as she gnawed on the dried meat, Princess keeping her pace steady on her own.

As the threesome trotted along the road, Star looked around, admiraring the beutiful trees that were not far of in the distance. She felt some kind of bug or fly graze her cheek and then her ear. Star reached up and swatted at it, but it was in vain. She then reached up and rubbed her ear where the bug had hit her. Her jaw dropped.

"Oh my goodness." she looked at Idril, "My ears are pointed."

Melda glanced over her shoulder and smiled briefly. "Generally elves do." She looked back in front of her and added. "No, the first time I was ever on a horse for any extended period of time has been these last few days."

Star stared at Melda with a dull look.

"Riiight. So I am *supposed* to be an elf all of the sudden? And sense you havn't ridden a horse before, do you want me to take the wheel, er, reins? I have taken some brief lessons on horse-back riding."

Melda rolled her eyes. "Okay, let's think about this. Dressed like an elf, look like an elf, ears like an elf - unless you're suggesting someone knocked you out, dyed your hair and gave you plastic surgery, the evidence looks pretty convincing!" She paused for a moment. "And no, that's okay, the only way I'll ever learn is to do it."

Star sighed.

"Fine, but don't expect me to be the all-knowing and knowledgable elf. And DON'T call me old." She looked at the fast-dissapearing sun.

"We should start moving quickly, if we want to make good time."

Idril laughed at their conversation, grinning slightly. "I'm guessing I'm the oldest here, so if anyone is to be cursed with a nick name such as 'old' it would be just my luck...."

She nodded as Star suggested they pick up the pace. "We'll take it at a canter. Will you be comfortable with that, Meldawen....?" She was genuinely concerned, but didn't want to seem too bossy or demeaning.

"Yeah, Star can catch me if I start to slip," laughed Melda. "No, I'm kidding, I think I'll be okay." She settled further down into the saddle. "I mean...I guess there's a first time for everything!"

Star laughed at Melda's coment,

"Alright, we're off to see the wizard! Or, King of Mirkwood, rather."

With that they continued down the road, headed for Mirkwood, or as they knew it would be called, Eryn Lasgalen.
