Sygnet nodded but she was still uncomfortable with this unknown land. She trusted him and followed his lead without question, "It doesn't feel right. The air," she said after a few minutes.

Micha paused at Sygnet's remark. He had learned long ago that elves had senses humans did not. Nome of the others seemed to notice but he kept a sharp eye out as well as two ears and a hand on the hilt of his sword.

He nodded to her, "I will keep an eye out. We ahould stick close."

As they went along the way Eshlyn finally gave in and settled the group in a crude spot along the pathway for the night.

Sygnet dismounted, holding the reins of her horse and raising her hood, leaning against a tree, she closed her eyes but remained awake and alert.

Micha took a seat near Sygnet, his hand not leaving the hilt of his sword. Some of the other elves must have caught on to the discomfort of Sygnet and Micha and they too began to sense the danger. No one knew for sure what it was at this point.

Sygnet was glad for his company and unsheathed her daggers and lay them in her lap, ready for any sort of action that might happen. She was glad the others began to sense what it was but she couldn't begin to imagine what it could be. Wolves or ice wraiths were a possibility. Maybe even orcs.

Slowly but surely the party members started srifting off to an uncomfortable sleep. And all went well...until morning.


As the first of the elves was up and about he moved to the edge of thepath. Beneath them was a steep drop off and down below a vally whos bottom was shrouded in fog. Eshlyn was honest with his men. He disnt know exactily where they were.

Micha stood up to scan the landscape and when he did ao his skin grew cold. Not for the icy breeze or the snow blown drifts that caresed his face... But for the sight that dtood before them.

He had been here before. Many years ago... He had died here before.

"We must leave this place immediately! Back the way we came."

Sygnet pulled up on the reins and stared at him, "What is it?" she asked, confused. Her horse was sensing the fright and whinnying nervously. The wind threw her hood back and her ginger hair whipped in the icy wind, as she shifted nervously in her saddle.

"We are off track... I've been here before. The vally below is filled with goblins, wolves..." He paused. "And worse things. They dont take kindly to treapassers even on the mountains above their valley."

Eshlyn looked concerned at Micha. "The vally of the Elder Age."

Micha only nodded grimly.

Sygnet looked ahead, then back to Micha, "Micha, what is going on? What is that?" she asked, glancing about nervously.

"Long ago the elves devided..." Micha told her. Eshlyn glared at Micha but said nothing. "The history has been hidden as an embarrassment. One group of elves sought the power of Melkor and dissapeared into the misty mountains. When the rest of the elves found them, knowing they would have to deatroy them unless their evil spread over the face of middle earth, they deacovered creatures, not elves."

Some of the other elves in the geoup glanced at Eshlyn with wondering gazes. They obviously did not know the tale.

Micha continued. "Melkor had used an unusual form of torture transormation that had turned the elves into indistinct, ununiform, and hideouse creatures with raving minds and great battle prowes. As they reproduced the offspring grew more doverse, more powerful, and more mutated. The elves of old destroyed them.... Or so they thought. Apparently some survived and have been hidden in this valley for thousands of years waiting until they are strong enough in number to take over middle earth."

Sygnet looked out, towards the Valley and her horse whinnied sharply. She took a deep breath, not knowing what to say except, "We need to leave," she said quietly, "Now," she whispered.

In one accord the men turned to leave but just as they did a heavy fog rolled in. The fog was so thick that one could hardly see the length if their own arms.

"Sygnet," Micha called out as soon as he saw the ominouse fog moving in. "Stay close." He looked towards the rest of the men as they vanished into the fog. "Stay close!" He hollored out. "We cant get aeparated."

Sygnet bent her head and leaned foreword, sniffing slightly to catch a scent of Micha. She found it and moved her nervous horse closer to him. She was getting apprehensive and continued moving up the path.

Slowly a form appeared through the fog. Micha moved closer and realized it was Sygnet.

"Have you seen any others?" He asked.

But before Sygnet could answer the fog cleared as fast as it had come in and to everyone's surprise they found themselves deep in the bottom of the valley.

Sygnet gasped slightly and looked about, her horse was flicking its tail nervously and shaking her head. Sygnet stroked her neck, trying to calm her and spoke gentle words to her in elivsh.

Micha looked around. Eshlyn was there and one other elf were nearby. Where the rest had vanished to was anyones guess.

Eshlyn approached My cha and Sygnet while Micha walked Syndar over beside Sygnet. "You alright?"
