Miriel opened her eyes yet only saw darkness. "Meleth..? i can't see anything.." She touched her shoulder lightly with her hand and felt blood. "Did .. did the others find us already..?"

Meleth swallowed, now feeling really panicked. "You - you can't see anything? You can't see me?" she bent over Miriel, trying to compose herself. "No, the others aren't here."

Luthien sat patiently as Loth attempted to cut her bonds. At that very moment, though, she heard the soft zing of an arrow, and a thump. Peering towards the bushes, she saw a rustling of leaves, then a human head popped into view. She gasped, startled. "Hello lovelies," said the head. "Ellie? Am I glad to see.." But she was cut off by his finger pressed against his lips. Deftly untying her, the three rushed quietly to the base of a cliff. "Now what?" she asked, "I knew I would have wanted some rope."

Miriel sat on her knees with her hat down. Slowly as the blood sank to her head, her sight retuned. "We should look for them.. I'm worried." Miriel mumbled but she didn't know where to look. "Shall we go immediately?"

Meleth didn't know what to do. She was exhausted and dirty and her clothes were covered with blood, both from the orcs and herself. "I suppose," she mumbled. "Which way, do you think?"

Haldir stumbled into a small clearing, still clutching his bloody sword. He nearly ran into Meleth. "Meleth!" he said in surprise. "Where are the others?"

Meleth almost died of shock. "Haldir!" she gasped. "Oh, thank Eru - Miriel is with me, I haven't seen the others - they aren't with you?" she looked worried. "Where could they have gone - oh no," she breathed, horror written on her face. "Maybe the orcs took them! Maybe -" she broke off, pacing wildly. "That settles it. If they aren't with you, we must find them."

"Aye I was alone," said Haldir worriedly. "We must leave now. I fear for their safety." He took off again into the bushes.

Meleth shook herself and took one look at Haldir before she ran after him and caught his sleeve. "Miriel cannot," she said, shaking her head. "We're both exhausted and I don't think either of us have eaten in at least a day. Unless you have a horse hidden in that quiver of arrows...which I doubt...we may have to wait." She looked at him apologetically.

Haldir sighed. "I would go alone, but I can't leave you two here. If I found them, you two would be missing in turn." Haldir jumped up on a tree branch to keep watch. Haldir sighed worriedly and wondered what became of their other companions.

Meleth nodded and took off her cloak, ripping it into strips. "Show me where you're hurt, Miriel," she said in a commanding tone. "We sleep tonight and whether we're well or no, we start our search tomorrow." She glanced up at the setting sun. "This isn't optimal, but it should serve to keep you from bleeding to death at least." She looked up. "Are you hurt at all, Haldir?"

Haldir pulled his cloack tightly over himself to conceal the long deep gash on his left shoulder. "Not at all," he said defiantly. "Watch over Miriel."

Meleth raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? I am skeptical that any of us escaped unscathed from such an onslaught."

"I escaped without a scratch," insisted Haldir, moving more into the shadows.

A corner of Meleth's mouth twitched ever so slightly. "If you insist," she said quietly, and went to tend to Miriel, thinking wry thoughts of males and their pride.
