Eleshna pointed towards the highest peak on the opposite side of the valley. "We'll head for there. There should be a cave there which the tablet says is a dwelling of sorts... I hope after all this trouble, we have not come for nothing... "

Glancing back at the man following, Eleshna furrowed her brow as she noticed a look of pain cross his face. "Are you feeling quite well, sir?" Her tone was different this time, no longer angered, but respectful.

The man shook his head, and then followed Eleshna.

Jaden looked at the peak, it wasn't all that far off...
"I do too." Jaden agreed with Eleshna's wish that this jorney would not be for nothing.

Jaden noticed Eleshna look back and his gaze followed hers.

After the short conversation the small group rode onward into the vally.

Jaden and Azher were allert and ready, Jaden having his sword out and in hand.

Suddenly Eleshna pulled her mare to a stop as a deafening screech sounded out from the direction of the larger caves down the valley.

"I didn't like the sound of that..." Eleshna said as she clenched her jaw and unsheathed her sword.

Suddenly a large winged shadow came across the ground towards them, but the source was unseen until the dragon was nearly directly over them.

Eleshna's mare reared in fright, and Eleshna grasped a handful of mane in order to keep on. "Hurry! Towards the smaller caves!" she yelled as she urged the terrified horse onward at a gallop.

Jaden covered his ears as the shreac sounded.

As the dragon followed close behind in persute Jaden took Syndar to an even pace with Eleshna's mare being sure she did not fall behind.

Jaden then looked back to the other man. His horse was keeping up with them as they ran allong.

Eleshna's mare turned suddenly in fright as a wall of fire flared up in front of and around all three of them. Falling from the mare, Eleshna rolled and came to her feet just as the dragon came to land amidst them.

Lifting her sword, she reflected the sun into the eyes of the dragon and it stepped back a pace. Just then a tall figure cloaked in grey seemed to appear right through the wall of fire and came between them and the dragon.

Lifting his hand towards the dragon, the cloaked man began to slowly clench his fist and the dragon began to cower, its expression nearly akin to a dog being punished for wrong actions. The man then walked over to the wall of fire and as he stepped closer, it died and dwindled to chard remains of grass and weeds.

Turning around the man faced them. He pushed his hood back to reveal elven features, though it was apparent that he had seen more years than any of them, for his hair was as white as snow, and his eyes were grey but clear and with the depthness of a well full of knowledge.

Eleshna's eyes widened in disbelief. It seemed she knew him, from somewhere long ago... She stumbled back slightly with a gasp and swayed as though she was about to fall over.

Jaden watched as the man revealed his face. With near equal amazement he steped back slightly.

Looking over at Eleshna he could tell this was not just another aquantence to be made.

Watching her he was unshure what to do as she reacted to the man.

He was unsure if she was going to fall over, faint, if she had been injured somehow, if it was shock, or a whole host of other things that came to his mind.

Close enough to stop her from falling over he stood there and waited.

Eleshna set the point of the sword into the ground and steadied herself against the hilt. Her jaw was clenched and she had paled conciderably but she didn't take her eyes off the elf.

The man eyed Eleshna for a while with a scrutinizing gaze, then bowed in the direction of the others. "I am the one whom you seek, by the name of Veron." The dragon who had been subdued, now stood behind Veron, almost looking like a faithful guard dog.

Eleshna nodded her head slowly to Jaden and regained her composure. "So you are not who you once told me you were, are you?" she questioned Veron.

Veron looked at her silently for a while, "I could not exactly have told you my real name, now could I?" She shook her head in response but clenched her jaw again.

He again looked at Jaden, and seeing the confused look on he face, he smiled slightly, "I shall explain things... Eleshna here, was my student at one time, and it was I who gave her the charge of the Shadows, but she didn't exactly stay as I told her to. She wandered off on her own, and because of her ignorance and stupidity, she has caused much trouble..." He sent a cold glare in Eleshna's direction and she bit her tongue, holding back the urge to snap and speak of her reasoning behind it all.

"Anyway... that is not why you three are here, is it?... You come because of the Maithiliat? Ah yes indeed... now who has awoken the beast?" he questioned, his eyes on Jaden.
