Alric listened intently to the Elf's tale. Never before leaving the Mark, these tales and experiences were new to him. The Golden Wood sounded a remarkable place, though it's Lady was of repute in Rohan. He scanned the crowd for Lord Elrond, and, not finding him, pulled out a pipe and lit it.

The dwarf glanced over at his friend with a shake of his head, "Where did you get that?" He gestured to her face. Maethoriel responded with a sharp look that clearly meant the story was not entirely pleasant,"I will explain that later."
Grair nodded and glanced about the room taking note of those who he had seen with her earlier, "Have you made friends? That is something to be wondered at."
She shrugged, "Perhaps, but we shall see will we not?" The half-Elf exstinguished her pipe once more seeing more elves enter the room, she was not one for crowds. She produced a cane from the cushions of the couch and stood up, "I will be...away. I do believe my help might be of use nearer the forest." She smirked and exited quickly, her cloak swishing behind her as she slipped into the halls.
Grair remained seated, he did not even have a chance to protest, so he settled into the couch and listened to stories. He noted that she had however managed to abscond with a jug of wine.

Alric extinguished his pipe as Lord Elrond entered the room discreetly. The Elven lord took a seat beside the young man as Alric sat up a bit straighter in his armchair "Lord Elrond, mae govannen" he said
"Suiliad, Captain Alric. What news of the Mark do you have?" the Elf Lord asked, examining the new arrivals
Alric repeated his ill tidings while he stared into the roaring hearth, his mind strating towards his home while he unconciously drew a half finished carving from his belt pouch
"I see." Elrond said "This is ill news. If Theoden King does nothing, then Saruman may subdue Rohan rather quickly"
"I do not intend to let that happen, Lord. I would not have my wife and son fall at the hands of Dunlendings or Orcs. That is why I am here."
"Oh?" the Elf asked, raising one eyebrow
"Lord, I have come to ask for assistance. The Mark will not stand without help. With Theoden unstable, Theodred dead, and Eomer missing, Rohan is veunerable. I ask for no more than 150 warroirs to assist us. That is all we will need to reinforce our largest villages." Alric said gravely

Celebfineth wandered though the gardens of Imladris. Her long silver hair flowed in a light breeze. She looked around at the many that had gathered, most she did not know. She hardly paid any mind to them and continued her walk. She was a shy and quiet elleth who often kept to herself, but very soft spoken when she did speak. She normally didn't speak unless she was spoken to first, not one to approach anybody.

Maethoriel happily sauntered down the long hallways, her cane held carelessly over one shoulder. She swigged the wine from the crystal jug it was served in, and paid little attention to the odd looks she recieved from the rest of the elvish population. Her laughter rang out as she stepped out into the comforting air, she was little inclined to join any others, her mental stability was considered shaky by the other elves. And she hated to ruin any gossip about her person, it was infinitely useful. She found that gossip would often do her job for her. As a rule, only Grair, Mithrandir and Lord Elrond knew she was entirely trustworthy. Her dark eyes caught sight of bit of silver amongst the greenery, "Well, what have we here?" She drawled.

Silverleaf looked up at Lord Elrond walked into the room. He was speaking with Alric now. Doubtless Alric would be asking him if Rivendell would aid Rohan in war. Silverleaf knew what the answer would be. She had heard Elrond speak of this matter many times; the elves did not have the strength anymore to help the world of men, and their time on Middle Earth would soon be over. Elrond sometimes let Silverleaf sit in his study and read one of his books while he was sorting through scrolls or something of the like, and he often commented to her.

Elrond grimaced "I am afraid I must refuse the request" he said wearliy "The Eldar have no longer enough strength to openly fight alongside men. Our time is ending, Alric. We do not have enough warriors to assist in Rohan's defence. What of Gondor?" he asked
Alric's look darkened "Gondor offers no assistance. Not so mush as a standard has been seen. Denethor, it seems, ignores our plight. We are hard-pressed, Lord. Gondor, like you, has no warriors to spare in these times." aid, pulling out a carving knife 'Thank you for listening, Lord Elrond. I understand your reasons." he said, turning his gaze to his carvings as the Elf Lord stood "I am sorry" the Half-elf said
"Alric shook his head and sighed "Do not be. Your people have sacrificed much for us. Each lord must look after his people." he said, as Elrond nodded and walked away

Maethoriel was once again bored, and out of alcohol. She scurried back into the Hall of Fire, her smaller form easily blending in amongst the taller elves, despite the difference in dress.
She replaced the crystal and reached over for another, her dwarvish friend shook his head, "I think you've had enough, lassie. How drunk do you plan on being?"
The half-Elf shrugged, "I plan on not remembering any of my doings this night in the morning,"she responded, giving the dwarf a wink. "And since when do you care? I recall a certain red-bearded dwarf getting drunk last Durin's day and dancing about on tables. Lucky I had been there or he might have been embarrased."
Under his beard, Grair was beet red. "Hush, lassie. That was many years ago, you know that well enough."
Maethoriel snickered and took a seat next to him, holding a new jug of red wine. Her head tilted to the side towards the end of Lord Elrond's and Alric's conversation. She shook her head and muttered darkly under her breath, "Gondor lies."

Talk of Gondor had come to Silverleaf's ears as she sat quietly by herself. She heard Maethoriel's comment and cast a dark glare directly in her direction. Silverleaf was unmistakably Gondorian, despite her Elvish dress. Silverleaf raised her voice so it carried over the buzz of conversation of the elves towards Maethoriel, "have you actually been to Gondor in these recent years, my lady? If you had then you would surely know that Gondor has barely enough soldiers to aid itself, let alone the rhealms seeking it's help." Silverleaf was blunt about such matters. Her younger sister would have defended Gondor by pledging undying loyalty to it and declaring the dignity and honour of said rhealm, but Silverleaf stated the facts with a bitter harshness.

Alric nodded without looking up from his carving "Aye, Maethoriel. The lady speaks truth. When I rode to Gondor to seek thier assistance, Osgiliath had already fallen. The Gondorians are hard-pressed. We all are." he reflected
"What news from Erebor?" Alric called over to the Dwarf sitting by Maethoriel

Silverleaf nodded grimly at Alric's comment. She rose from her seat and accepted a glass of wine from one of the attendants. She lifted it to her lips and drained it. She was tired of the talk of Gondor's cowardice; it was a noble land, she knew it still though her own faith in it had slowly disappeared as the years went by.

She grinned and waggled her brows, "I have visited...to say the least." Her dwarvish counterpart quickly cut off any further comments extending from that point by elbowing her and turning to Alric, "Ill news, indeed. One of the Nazgul paid us a visit. We too shall be hard pressed for our freedom it seems."
Maethoriel seemed to sober enough to give an assured comment. Her brown eyes were bright with thought indicating that her drunken nature may only be part of her actual personality, "Ah but you see dear child, I am old enough to know that there is strength in allies. Gondor and Rohan should learn that banding together is the only way to save them both. Apart they are weak, together they have a chance. Even if it is small." She gave another feral grin, effectively erasing her impression and swigged her wine.

Silverleaf laid down her glass on the table, looking over towards Maethoriel again. "Aye, that sounds a good plan," she said, quite tonelessly and unmoved, "however, you should know that our Lord and Steward of Gondor is against the idea of allying himself with anyone completely. You can go all the way to Minas Tirith and tell him that if you like. All you'll get is a resounding no."
She looked down at the empty wine glass with a raised eyebrow then looked back at the woman. She was stony cold, like a pillar of marble, an icy winter breeze that refused to be warmed by spring. "You would be a fool indeed if you thought that Gondor would ever venture out to Rohan to form an alliance. It has too much pride altogether. As do the people who live there." She smiled bitterly.

Maethoriel ignored the girl's looks, she truly did not care about the thoughts of others. "Dinethor is a fool to clutch at pride with so many lives at stake. He is not a stupid man, he knows the ways of war, but his resistance to the obvious makes me wonder if he has finally lost his mind. His grip on reality has loosened since the loss of his wife." She chuckled and shrugged, "Fine keep your pride, it has been the downfall of many a greater nation than your own."

Celebfineth lifted her head, hearing a voice. At first, the figure appeared to be a male but the voice said different. The appearance of the figure, for some reason, startled the shy elleth. Celebfineth placed her hands behind her back and took one step backwards, not sure of what to say or do.

Silverleaf walked right up to Maethoriel, her face blank. "Oh, you think I speak of my own pride?" she said simply. "On the contrary. I'm just stating the facts. My own faith in Gondor dwindled away a long time ago when they failed to stop my entire family from being killed, thus did any remaining pride in it." Her silvery-blue eyes ran up and down Maethoriel. "Find it amusing if you wish that the loss of the Lord's wife drove him to losing most of his sanity. There are those who know better than you about such matters." She turned away sharply and clicked her fingers for another glass of wine.
