Melda stood still, knowing that she did not fall into the 'know how to fight' category, and feeling a little embarassed about it.

Luth rolled her eyes and muttered, "Lovely, hero-boy." Trying to remember her archery lessons at camp, she readied her bow and arrow and stood next to FaZ, praying for safety.

"Great, goblins." Elenriel muttered under her breath as she quickly untied her horse and allowed her to run free into the forest. Steadying her nerves, she stepped forward and readied her bow. She was not a trained warrior and she feared to enter into battle, but she was not about to stand by while she had weapons that could aid her companions. Remembering her archery lesson from Prince Legolas on their journey to Rivendell, she now kept an out for their enemies. This is it. she thought to herself. It's now or never...

Larael had known that something like this was going to happen. She led her horse to the edge of the forest, and after hitting it hard on the rump it pelted into the forest to hide with the other horses.

Larael scrambled back toward the group stringing a bow and loosing it into the crowd of screaming goblins running pell-mell straight toward them. Amazingly the arrow found it's mark and one goblin fell to the ground. She strung another arrow edging her way into the circle and colliding with Elegost's horse's flank. She loosed the second arrow and yelled up to Elegost above the noise,"It's about time you returned... perfect timing indeed."

FaZ was standing still between Luthien and Larael.
"Luth, no worries, I will not let them reach you! Trust me." He shouted stringing his bow. He aimed one of the goblins, and released an arrow. The creature slowy fell to the ground.
FaZiovsky came closer to Ellie and Elessar, and asked:
"What about a charge, my friends? Girls can stay here and cover us by firing, they are mostly archers as i can see. That would be the easiest, and the most dangerous - as well - way to defeat them." He coughed and released another arrow.

Larael stood back as the men charged ahead into the surge of warg's and goblin's. They were badly outnumbered...

Larael fired arrow after arrow into the chaos, as swords clashed and battle cries arose. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Elegost falling to the ground, his sword laying helplessly in the grass, a Warg approaching him. Larael strung her arrow quickly and shot at it. She fired arrows again and again until the beast slumped over at Ellie's feet.

Melda immediately saw that the whole 'form a circle around those who can't fight' strategy was a miserable failure, and drew her small sword with a sick feeling. She turned to try and see if everyone was allright and came face to face with an orc, knife drawn. She went white and before she knew what was happening, she'd stabbed it and it lay at her feet. Melda just stood there and stared.

Elessar nodded to FaZ, brandished his sword, and with a loud shout, charged into the battle. He stabbed an orc between the ribs, then turned to kill another when he saw the one called Elegost fall to the ground. Fighting hard to get to him, it was almost too late, he wouldn't reach him in time...then he saw the warg pierced by many arrows before slumping to the ground. Looking to the archer who had done this feat, he saw one of the ladies looking on. He saluted her, then pulled Elegost to his feet. "Let's stick closer together, draw their fire away from the ladies."

Elenriel glared at the approaching orc as she readied an arrow. This was the third orc attack she faced in Middle-earth and she grew weary of the vermin that now surrounded them. Pulling the arrow back, she shot the approaching orc in the chest and watched as the creature crumpled to the ground. Never before could she imagine herself taking part in a battle, much less slaying anything-but now her greatest concern lay with helping her friends and staying alive. The things we learn how to do when our survival depends on it. she thought. Never in a million years could I imagine myself being able to shoot anything. She then quickly turned her attention on another approaching orc, shooting it down before it drew near. "There are too many of them!" Elenriel shouted as she shot another orc down. "We need some sort of plan!"

"I agree, but what?" Luth shouted to Elenriel, using her last arrow on a particularly large beast. Suddenly realizing her peril, she dropped her bow and pulled out her slender Elven sword. Let's hope that those guys in the movies knew what they were doing, she thought wryly, for TV fights were all she had to go on.

"I don't know, but we will be killed if we remain in the open." Elenriel shouted back to Luth. She quickly glanced at the forest. "Is there anyway we could use the cover of the forest to our advantage?" she asked, as she quickly shot down another orc.

"Maybe, do you think we could ride fast enough to escape? But the horses are probably long gone by now." Luth stabbed a running orc in the throat, grimacing at the feeling of killing a living creature. She just knew she would have nightmares about this.

Larael came up behind Luthien shooting arrows into the air.
"I sent my horse off into the forest for safety, there's no way I'd be able to find her now," she said, berating herself for being so stupid.

Elenriel gritted her teeth as she speared an orc with an arrow that drew too close. "You're right," she told Luth. "Let's scratch that idea." She then turned to Larael, "My horse is in the forest as well. I think most if not all of our horses are..." She then sighed in frustration. "Too bad we are too few in number for some of our company to attack our enemies from behind." And no means to call for aid. she thought silently.

The Quiet A-U Gentlewomen

Caunion, from his experiences at home playing with his brother, knew how to fight on horseback. Though his play with his brother usually involved him being on a bicycle, wielding a bamboo stick, the concept was still the same. He rode towards the group of girls that were fending off a group of goblins with bows. Well, they can fight pretty well Caunion thought as he beheaded a goblin on his way towards the girls. His horse reared up and landed with a crash, allowing Caunion to bring his sword down onto a goblin. He saw Ellie fighting and rode to him, letting his horse run over any goblins that were in the way. He halted before Ellie and asked, "Where do you want me?"
