Atalante drummed her fingers impatiently on the hilt of her sword. "There's no point," she finally said, in a rather strained voice, bending to inspect the deep footprint of a horse that looked as though it were bearing one abnormally heavy person, or perhaps two. "There is no advantage to knowing their direction if we cannot catch up - they're going to be days ahead of us soon!"

Rill shot a grim look at the rapidly sinking sun. "Keep your eyes open for a suitable camping location," he said, rather annoyed, looking over his shoulder at the rest of the men. "Leave those elves tied," he added, as a precaution. He wouldn't put it past them to perform some trick and be gone before the men could blink.
Meleth sighed inwardly, giving another hopeless tug on her bound wrists, which were sore and raw. Obviously her ignorant assumption that all mortals were slow and unintelligent was completely debased, and she cursed herself for assuming that it was safe to confront them.

"Lady Atalante i know that we are far behind but we must try, we cannot leave them to be tourted."Tulmind said trying to comfort her but he shivered at the thought of harad tourting.

Atalante managed a smile. "Aye, I suppose there's no other viable course of action. Though if we had some horses, I would be much more optimistic about rescuing our comrades." _________________

Elendi awoke as she felt a throbbing pain on her head. She could feel the dried blood against her head and hair as she looked around at the other Elven prisoners. She cursed and tried to struggle free, but someone yelled and whipped her from behind. She yelped and stopped struggling as he back yelled in agony & pain. She wandered what was going to happen to them.

"I don't know if we can have that luxury......" a thought poped into Tulmind's head as he said that. "... or if you want i could get on all fours and you could ride on me!!" he laughed adding some much needed humor and looked at Atalante in way that said, "You know that there is no way in the world we can get horses now."

Meleth cringed involuntarily as Elendi awoke, not looking around. She closed her eyes briefly, as if praying for strength, and cast an agonized glance over her shoulder, avoiding Rill's gaze. She hesitated. "Man mathach, mellon nin?"* she called to Elendi, steeling herself, and added, "Avo 'osto..."* but did not finish, as Rill's gauntleted hand rose. She had no wish to invite his wrath, but subsided, jaw set angrily.
