This made Meleth laugh, a rare occurance. "We have had experiences in common, then," she replied, rising to her feet. "I have danced but once this evening and it is already too much - though perhaps that is more my partner's fault than that of dancing itself."

"It must have been. Dancing in itself isn't that terrible..if you have the right partner, of course." Thalion said, then caught himself. What was he talking about? His ranger persona was definitely forgotten for the night..

"I'm afraid I've never had the patience or the time to find the perfect dancing partner," Meleth remarked ironically. "It's not a pastime I pursue frequently. I seem to expect them to fall into my lap, and it never quite happens - instead I find myself caught with the poorest dancer in the group and I wish I'd forgone the whole evening."

"It does take a certain amount of patience, difficult as that may be." Thalion said in response to her first remark, then found that very ironic. The few times he had been invited to events such as this, he had not practiced this principle, and usually had very sore feet at the end of the night.

Hearing the music ending abruptly just then, he looked in the direction of the musicians, and shook his head. "Now, the real entertainment begins.."

Meleth, looking sideways at him, raised an elegant eyebrow. "Would you care to elaborate on this 'real entertainment'?" she queried, sounding curious. Her silver hair caught the light in a thousand tiny glitters, becoming slightly hypnotizing, and the ghost of a smile played around her lips.

Thalion allowed himself the ghost of a smile. "It's time for the banquet." was his response. "Every time I come to an event like this, it seems most of those attending forget their manners when it comes time to eat."

"Really," was all of Meleth's response to this. After a moment of contemplation she added, "I cannot say I agree with you, I have always found the dinner deathly boring - though again, perhaps that was the lack of companions who are adept at intelligent conversation."

"Intelligent conversation is always severely lacking." Thalion agreed, with a slight shake of his head. "And I doubt this evening that will be any different."

"Perhaps you yourself could supply the intelligent conversation," said Meleth, not looking at him but letting her eyes rove over the gradually emptying dance floor. "I would be most pleased if you would join me for dinner, as I am not here with an acquaintance and I am sure the royal siblings are otherwise engaged."

Thalion, once again, allowed himself a brief smile. "It would be my pleasure, m'lady."

Sora had been sitting for what seemed an eternity while her face was losing it's beat red color, She wished she had some one to talk to. She sighed as she whatched to graseful elves. She had always set her standers to high becaus eof this she had never even had a boyfriend. She sighed agin and thought of the tales of lost love and new love. She lived in the stories told she loved to sit and listne to them. A large crwods was starting to drift away from the dace floor and out the room."Just great now were am I supposed to go" her frustration showed. She prayed some one would come to her rescue. (Cue the handsome male elf)

Meleth smiled. "Then let us secure our seats before the rest get there before us, shall we?"

Thalion nodded his agreement, glanced towards the already-filling dining hall, then back to Meleth. "After you, m'lady."

Meleth opened her mouth to correct him - she was no lady, nor had she ever been - but thought better of it and merely stepped through the door to survey the rapidly filling dining hall. She looked about, and spotted the last small table by a window. Catching Thalion's sleeve, she hastily threaded her way through the crowd and seated herself.

Allowing himself to be led through the rather stifling crowd, Thalion cast an amused glance across the crowd, before seating himself at the table Meleth had led him to.
