Eston looked up from the great bird, " thank you " he said quietly. the bird stretched his wings and made a slight chirp. Deawen sat with her back to a tree idly playing with her medallion, it flashed occasionaly like a pulse. Eston began rummaging through the saddle bags and pulled out some dried meat. He offered the others some, reserving a small peice for his bird. he tossed a chunk to Deawen who methodicaly ripped it to pieces.

"Oh, come! Must we reallyt eat like wolves? We are civilized, even if we are in middle-of-nowhere, Grey Mountains. Let me make something, if we indeed are stopping here."

Huddling around the fire with her companions, her belongings clutched to her chest, Imlosiel tried valiantly to think of anything that might momentarily distract from how truly cold she was. Her hand quickly darted out of her cloak to recieve the piece of meat that had been handed to her, and was retracted back to the small warmth that the cloak provided. The meat was somewhat bland in taste, but she enjoyed it none-the-less.

Deawen looked at Morwen blankly," there is nothing wrong with eating dried meat !" she growled like a wolf and Eston howled, Deawen glared at Eston threw a clump of snow at him " Shh!" he instantly fell silent as a wolf in the distance howled in reply.
Deawen laughed at Imosiel though not out of meaness but of irony. " Just before we left the westfolde, you asked if I could lend you some fire from time to time I never answered but now I think is a time to do such"
she explained she lightly touched Imosiel's shoulder a warmth flooded her fingertips and passed through to Imosiel.

Anira accepted the meat from Eston gratefully and slowly began to eat it, still lost in thought. The sudden howling of a wolf snapped her attention back to the present and she quickly scanned the surroundings with her eyes, just to make sure that their presence went undetected. Drawing her cloak about her tightly, she noted that the air was chillier than usual. "An everlasting winter," she murmured to herself, somehow unable to shake the feeling that trouble was brewing and would find them soon.

Morwen rolled her eyes and picked a dried plum and two slices of bread and had herself a little treat. "Well, are we planning to stay here, anyways?" She started to re-adjust her gloves when, glancing up, she saw fog rolling in off of the mountains. "Deawen, the fog...it's frozen." She stood, putting back on her coif. "I've never seen this happen."

Imlosiel also chuckled softly at the memory of her question, and gratefully received the warmth that radiated out from the touch at her shoulder. "Many thanks," Imlosiel said to Deawen with a smile.
She became distracted by Morwen's words, and turned her head to see what she was remarking upon.

Deawen stood up along with Morwen and stood next to her. The fog was frozen, there was no wind the wood fell silent nothing stirred.
She pulled up her hood and brought a cloth over her mouth and nose securing so that the fog would not seep in. When the fog reached thier camp, It was a blast of darkness edged with freezing cold. Deawen gasp as it felt like the very air was sucked out of her. Deawen could barely see inside the fire light, which was starting to sputter out, Deawen extended her own fire to strengthen it she suddenly felt a jolt like she had just made a connection with someones mind. She felt her fire being surpressed, she cried out in alarm, the pressure increased slowly beating her fire to embers. What ever was controling the fog it was stronger than her it was like arm wrestling a cave troll. She let the fire go out then drew her sword, and a dagger. Eston seeing Deawen draw her sword released his bird and drew his own sword.

Anira gasped as she felt the blast of the chilly fog. She could hear no messages from the wind-it seemed as if all life was to be sucked into the void. Gritting her teeth, she created an air shield, only to meet severe resistance from the darkness. She could hear a maniacal laughter in her mind, and for a moment her control slipped allowing the force to smash her shield. No good. she thought to herself as she quickly followed suit and drew her long twin daggers.

" Guard Your Mind!" Deawen shouted to Anira, "guard your mind" she whispered. Something moved in the fog, her blade vibrated as she swung her blade waiting. She expanded her mind to the others "stay together" she said in thier minds.

Imlosiel's bow was poised with an arrow as soon as she had seen the flash of the others' weapons appear in the dusk. She began to breathe heavily as the horrid miasma drew closer, the panic slowly worming it's way into her mind. "Calm down!" Imlosiel scolded herself, "You mustn't lose your head." The intense cold made it extremely difficult to focus her mind and force out the fear, but the urgency in Deawen's request for them to stick together brought her back to reality.
She backed up into the group of the others behind her, and ready to defend herself and her companions at a moment's notice, she intently studied the shape that moved about in the fog.

with the fire gone the group was plunged in total darkness, Deawen shuddered as memories flooded her mind. She tried to watch the shape in the fog but it blended in with the mist. something moved to her right she spun around and listened there was more of these shapes. She dared not open her mind to see if was human or not. whatever it was it was the size of a wolf. Growling emitted from one shape, followed by another.

As soon as the fire's light vanished, Morwen's mind was sent into a panic. She heard Deawen yell for everyone to close their minds, ut it was too late. The she first recognized the Mist, so it sought her out first. She felt the cold engulf her, become almost its own entity. In actuality, she was sure it was a being all to itself. Her memories were twisted into horrible tragedies. She didn't feel herself hit the ground. She thrashed about, trying to escape the darkness. She rolled to her stomach and smelt the ashes from the fire. She could feel the heat from the embers burning her hands. It brought her back with a yell. She leapt out of the fire, pulled her axe from her belt and closed her mind as best she knew how. She felt it rush at her again. Her human mind could not withstand the pressure, and she crumpled to the ground.

" Morwen!" Deawen shouted when Morwen fell into the embers, she rushed forward and sliced the air with her sword followed with a bright blast of Fire, she stood over Morwen guarding her. One of the creatures in the mist charged at Deawen knocking her to the ground in a flurry of snow.

"Morwen! Deawen!" Anira cried. "Enough!" she shouted at the darkness, her aqua eyes hardening. "Now, let's see what you are. Summoning her lightning she sent a bolt of light across the darkened sky, which light the land for the briefest of moments before the world was plunged into night again. She could just make out the forms of some of the creatures-things that seemed of airy form yet at the same time solid and cold. Hearing a howl to her right, she quickly brought her dagger up to defend against the attack.
