(Here are my bios! =) Sorry they’re a bit late! )

Name: Goldleaf
Age: Around her mid-twenties
Gender: Female
Race: Gondorian
Appearance: Tall and willowy, with blonde hair and blue-grey eyes. However, her years in the wilderness have given her a somewhat wild, unkempt appearance.
Play-by: Claire Danes
Personality: Loyalty is the first and foremost of her character traits, for she has an unswerving devotion to her country and those she loves, and would do anything to protect both. She is also compassionate and amiable by nature, but due to a harrowing experience of life, she has forced herself to alter her outward demeanor, so that she does not seem vulnerable or easy to take advantage of. As a result she may seem slightly cold or detached to people who do not know her well.
Weapons: Strong Gondorian broadsword, forged by her father
History: Goldleaf was born to a poor but happy family, the youngest of two sisters. Her father forged swords for a living, and his work was popular with soldiers of the army. It was he who taught Goldleaf the art of sword craft, believing that in a dangerous world such a skill might one day be necessary. Goldleaf grew up into a contented and fulfilled young woman, but when her heart was awoken to love, only to be broken in the end, her life began to feel chilly and lacking. This feeling of isolation only increased when her family was one day killed in an orc attack; unable to have saved them, she felt an unbearable guilt weigh down on her shoulders, and felt that she needed to be punished. Not able to bear to stay in her now empty family home, she took to a life in the wilds of Ithilien, becoming a self-sufficient vagrant. After some time, having learnt to rely on no one but herself, she began to travel beyond the borders of Gondor, curious to see more of the world.
Other: Goldleaf has an intriguing and painful history with Boromir, recently deceased son of the Steward of Gondor, which she will never confide to another living soul.

Name: Lainathiel
Age: She has long since forgotten her exact age, but she is known to be many thousands of years old
Gender: Female
Race: Elven
Appearance: Extremely pale, with icy blue eyes and black hair usually kept tied back in intricate fishtail plaits.
Play-by: Amy Lee
Personality: Lainathiel at all times keeps around her an atmosphere of confidence, cheer and humor. Her great age has made her more apt to speak her mind and be less careful of other’s opinions, which can sometimes offend people, although it is never her intention. However, her strong personality masks a deep hurt which occurred many long years ago in her life.
Weapons: A longbow of black ash wood marked with many detailed carvings, and a curved dagger
History: Lainathiel is a contemporary of Lord Elrond Halfeven, and has been witness to various momentous occasions in his life. She was present at the battle of the Last Alliance, but took a near-fatal injury in the midst of the fighting. With great luck she was able to be healed, but to this day she has never forgotten how close she came to losing her life. Over the years, she retained a position of high respect in Lord Elrond’s household as an advisor and friend. However, during the beginning of the Third Age, Lainathiel became distracted by a handsome visitor from Lothlorien, a skilled archer, and before long, they fell in love and planned to marry. But several years later, Lainathiel’s dreams were dashed when her betrothed was killed during a patrol, and after his burial she took to her bed, lost in her grief. For many weeks she refused to surface, and she screamed until her throat was raw. When she eventually reappeared, she refused to speak about what had happened, for the pain was far too great. Even now she will not utter a word about it and immerses herself in her work, although whenever she is not traveling she visits her betrothed’s grave every evening.
Other: None

Kevlessë paced her cell for what seemed like the thousandth time. In here, the air was thick and dirty, making it hard for anyone to breathe. In here, freedom seemed unlikely, the locks made by Isengard’s best metalsmiths. In here, they were trapped.

“Give it a rest, lass, would you?” Came the grumbled voice of a none-too-happy dwarf. Barildûm watched the woman from where lay sat on a stone bench. Obviously she did not realize how loud her footsteps echoed on the stone floor of the cell, nor of the fact that he was trying to rest. It was bad enough that he had been placed in a cell directly across from Elves, and now this.

Even the sounds of orcs laboring above them and the screech of grinding gears, of war machines being built, hardly made but a muffle down here. It was quiet for the most part, with the occasional conversation between cell mates that usually died off shortly after it had begun.

Kevlessë ceased her pacing, looking timidly at the others. She had not meant to anger anyone, simply having been caught up in her own thoughts. The young woman was the latest addition to the prison and already felt as though she was going mad. She did not belong here; captured solely for the fact that she had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was no warrior, just a simple girl who had foolishly wandered too far from home.

Brimming with Men, even a hobbit and dwarf. And Elves. The fair people of Middle-Earth. It was a strange sight indeed, for most elves did not do well in confinement. They were creatures connected to nature, and found it difficult to thrive in a place where so little natural beauty remained. Grass and trees had fallen prey to the wrath of Isengard and were replaced by fire and metal.

Aramel was one of them. She longed for freedom and the feel of wind upon her face. The lack of which was making her pale and sickly. They needed to get out of here soon or it would be the death of them, something that seemed more likely with each passing day.

[[Bios posted up in the main post :) btw, feel free to establish friendships and relationships between characters. Interaction is most definitely encouraged  Also, will introduce Harafan in my next post, as I couldn’t find a place for him in this one. ]]

Looking back, Helmwyn knew they could have escaped this fate. It had been her own stupidity that had landed her and Merefara in this prison--a company of orcs, small as it was, against only six riders. Truly, they never stood a chance, and yet she’d thought…

No, it wouldn’t do to trouble herself over the past. She’d suggested their patrol attack, and no one had disagreed. She and Merefara only had the fortune to be the last two standing.

But rather than being killed with their companions, they’d ended up here. Isengard, the prison more specifically. It was as impressive as it was discouraging; Helmwyn only wished she hadn’t been so naïve as not to consider that Isengard would have a prison in the first place.

It wasn’t much use to consider finding a way out, she had long ago decided. If Rohan regained its strength, perhaps someday an army would come and rescue them, but it didn’t seem likely in the meantime; her own position among the Rohirrim only attested to the desperate need of the Westfold to field soldiers. It was doubtful that if times were better, she would have been permitted that right.

In which case she wouldn’t be here.

That was the one problem with being locked away--it left too much time to think, and thinking was no relief these days.

Merefara sat brooding with his back against the wall. It was a small comfort knowing that they were alive for now; it couldn’t last, surely, and that had to mean that Saruman had some terrible plan devised for the lot of them, and it wouldn’t surprise him to learn that it was something worse than death. Men, elves and dwarves, even a Halfling--it was an odd assortment, and it only worried him more.

What purpose could the wizard have for keeping them? He had his own soldiers, and he doubted Saruman would be using them to barter a deal.

If disease didn’t kill him first, Merefara suspected he might die from anxiety.

Vanwawen sat in the corner of a cell, shared by two riders of Rohan. A man and a woman, who seemed to know each other. They sat that certain distance one sits to someone they knew in a situation like this. Whereas the elf, on the other hand, sat off by herself in the cell. She did not look at the humans, why should she? She had already occupied the cell when the two were brought in. In fact, she was in this dungeon before the rest of it's occupants arrived. And so far none of them, not even herself, had discovered a way out.

She thought herself an idiot now for allowing herself to be captured in such a way. In was almost unbearable. And the lack of sunlight, for she assumed she had been here for some weeks now, was causing her skin to be flush and paler then usual. Her usually lustrous, golden hair was dirty and gritty, her travel cloths soiled, her weapons taken away. Her body was becoming weak from the lack of food the prisoners were given.

This was not looking like a good situation. At this rate, this dungeon would be her filthy tomb.

In a cell right next to that holding the two riders of Rohan and the elf, one occupant sat with his back against the wall, his legs stretch out infront of him and crossed very casually. Dark hair was matted against his head, as he chewed on the end of a long stemmed, and regrettably long empty, pipe. The Dunadain, Gain, hadn't been an occupant long, but long enough to realize, that escape could only come if luck was on their side. And he hoped to Eru that luck was on their side. Until Lady Luck showed her pretty face, all he could do was wait, and in the mean time, why fret? It would only cause them to loose valuable energy.

The door into the dungeon flew open with the sound of a key in a lock and the creak of hinges. In a clamour of metal armor, and the sounds of a dragging body, orkish guards entered the room. Three in all. One held the door open as the other two dragged in yet another prisoner. By her cloths she was a peasant from Rohan, though her hair was close to the color of flames, stained with blood towards the top. The orc not holding her pulled out a sword and opened the cell with the other to Rohirrim and the elf, keeping it pointed at the occupants to keep them back as he opened the door.

Eonera felt herself be thrown into the cell and with a creek and a loud clang, the final door to her imprisonment closed. She looked up at those she shared her cell with. To her surprise there was an elf, who didn't even glance in her direction, as well as two from her own country. She could tell from their armor...

Charlie was pushed roughly against the wall of the most dank and dirty hovel he had ever seen, and that was saying a lot. Even when he had lived with Madge, it hadn't been so bad. Madge. . .he wondered where she was now. For the first thirteen years of his life, she had always been there for him, caring. Supporting him. But then she had gone, disappeared, if you like, and Charlie had been on his own for the better part of a year. Traveling. Wandering. Celebrating his fourteenth birthday without anyone except a few birds.

And now he was in Isengard's prison.

He had heard about Isengard, of course, how could he not? Growing up in Gondor, though, he had heard more about Mordor and the Dark Lord Sauron more than anything. Madge had made sure to teach him the history of this Middle-earth, though she knew very few things. Charlie looked around at the other occupants: an elf, whom he noticed was steadfastedly ignoring the others. Men, and women, probably from Rohan by their look. He had never met anyone from Rohan before, though had seen some from afar in Minas Tirith.

Charlie's stomach growled, dispelling all other thoughts from his mind. He wondered when they would get food, but, by the look of this place, probably never.

It was one thing, Helmwyn thought, for soldiers like her and Merefara (and probably a few of the elves and other men as well) to be trapped here. That had been their risk to take. But the young girl and boy? Neither of them could truly be fighters. They deserved better. They were practically children, although Helmwyn would spare what little dignity they had left and refrain from saying so out loud. She considered asking whether the girl was all right--the wound on her head didn't look so pleasant--but she already knew the answer: of course she wasn't all right. None of them were.

"Are you all right?" Merefara asked the bleeding girl once the orc guards had gone. There hadn't been much in the way of conversation between the prisoners; Merefara was beginning to realise how fortunate he was to have a friend here with him. The others were surely lonelier, and further from home, although the nearby plains of Rohan were as inaccessible as the kingdom of Gondor and the forests of the elves and the mountains of the dwarves, in all truth.

One of the riders, the man, came up to Eonera and inquired about her well being.
"I...I.." she stuttered, not sure how to answer. Her head ached, and n response she put a hand to her forehead, but then pulled it away at feeling it wet. She went wide eyed when she saw the blood on her hands. Wide eyed and pale. "They hit me... I didn't think they had hit me that hard," she murmured. She looked up at the man with eyes begging for help, comfort, or at the least, explanation. "Where are we? Last I remember... a horse stuck in the mud, then orcs all around. I got hit in the head. And then they were dragging me... down the hall..."

Another joined their cell, she glanced over. A boy, who looked younger then her sixteen years.

She was about to speak out when her head started throbbing. Eonera gasped in pain and clutched her head.
"Make the pain go away..." she begged softly, though spoke to no one in particular...

(Hey! I'm still at my theatre conference, so this post will be short, but I wanted to get in on the action!)

Every second in that horrid prison felt like a small eternity, and Arabella hated every single one of them. How many days had she been confined there? Had it been four? Five? There was no concept of time in the dungeons of Isengard. Instead, Arabella measured time by how often new prisoners were brought in.

Today, there were two. Both Big Folk--a boy and a girl. Arabella watched them, eyes wide and curious. Many Hobbits feared the Big Folk, but she did not. She had been wandering on her own too long to allow for such prejudices.

The girl was hurt somehow, clutching her head and crying out. Ari, in the cell next to them with the Ranger (or so she suspected) reached out a hand through the bars that separated them. Originally, she had thought to keep her powers a secret. They were unnatural, so some thought, especially in a Halfling like herself. Some feared them, others didn't understand them. But they could help this poor girl. And certainly no one else was going to do it.

"It's all right," Ari said soothingly. "I can help..."

Eonera glanced up to see who it was that had offered help. The girl had never seen a Hobbit before, had never even heard of such a thing. So to her eyes, Arabella looked just like a barefoot child with furry feet. This confused her more then anything. How could a child help?

But it didn't matter. Help was offered. Eonera made her way to the bars between the cells.
"How can you help?" Eonera asked, her voiced choked up.

The hobbit offering help to the girl, this peaked Vanwawen's interest. She didn't show it, though. The elf watched from the corner of her eye, wondering what the Hobbit was about to do...

What the Hobbit had said perked Charlie's interest, and he turned towards her and the other girl, who looked a bit older than him. From his perspective, it didn't look like the little girl could do anything about the other girl's head wound--for, just as Eonera, he was clueless about what Hobbits were, and she just looked like a small child.

"How can you help?" Charlie asked, his voice cracking a bit. "What can you do that the rest of us can't?"

She didn't like the way that all of them were staring at her, but Arabella held her ground under the curious--and probably suspicious--gaze of the Big Folk. Still, she wondered if she should have spoken up at all. Most races of Middle-earth were suspicious of magic, she had found, particularly the race of Men. If there was one thing Arabella had learned in her travels, it was that it was generally easier to keep her powers a secret. Being accused of evil sorcery when all she had been trying to do was help was not an experience the Hobbit lass cared to re-live again. And besides, Isengard was heavily guarded. Anyone could be watching, and there was the White Wizard to think about. If he found out about Arabella's powers, would he try to enslave her? To win her over to the side of evil? That was one risk that she didn't want to take.

But then she saw the pain in the flame-haired girl's eyes, and she knew that she had done the right thing. She took another step forward. "I can heal you," she said softly. "It won't hurt a bit, and it'll be over in an instant. Please, just trust me."
