It was late August, the air was still pleasantly warm, but there was a cool breeze in the air. Especially in the hilly grasslands of Eregion, where the wind blew down from the mountains to the west. It was a clear evening, the sun already partly hidden behind the Misty Mountains, but already stars were shining bright above. In a valley between hills there was an outcrop of rock, barely any kind of shelter, but enough so for the weary traveler to make camp. It was a good a place as any in these hills.

Eofyr dismounted her bay gelding, unsaddling and brushing him down before setting him on a tether. When that was done she made a small fire to warm a meal and keep away some of the creatures of the night. Making it in a valley in the hills would prevent the light from being seen from too far.
"There's still an hour before complete night, Sha'tal," she said to her horse, who flicked his tail. "But best not to pass up a good camping spot, though. This cleft should keep us from the wind, though it promises to be a clear night."

On the top of the ridge a rider capped the rocks and wondered along the cliff.

Micha looked down into the valley below him...he was surprised to see a small dot in the distance...a traveler and a fire starting up with a spiral swirl of smoke.

(Went back and changed my character's name to something a bit more Rohirric. Realized the other one sounded like an elf.)

Eofyr pulled a map from the saddle bags while letting some dried meat warm up by the small flame. She also pulled a small leather bound notebook. Well, it was more like many loose leaves of paper held together by the leather cover with a cord wrapped around it. Comparing the map, she pulled out a piece of charcoal and made note of her day's progress. Once she was done, she put both the notebook and the map away.
"A few more days and I should be out of Eregion, and close to Rivendell. I just hope I can find it going purely off the stories my father told me," she sighed, picking up the dried meat that had been stuck on a stick and starting to munch on it.

(Alrighty)

Micha watched for a moment from the distance. He was unsure what kind of people he might encounter out here in Eregion so close to the misty mountains.

He slowly headed down the side of the valley and towards the small camp.

Eofyr was halfway done with her bit of meat when Sha'taal's head rose up from where he was grazing. He let of a snort, looking off into the distance and let out a light whinnie. The movement caught Eofyr off guard. She jumped to her feet, stepped out away from the rock so she could see in the direction Sha'taal was looking. There, on a ridge not too far, was a long rider.

Micha guided Syndar around the rocks casually as the horse ambled slowly towards the women and her horse. He waved casually to show he had no ill intent towards the traveler.

As he approached he called out from a distance. "Greetings, fellow traveler."

Eofyr had positioned herself to have the fire at her back as she watched the rider approach so that the light didn't hinder her sight as she peered into the darkness. She started to tense as he grew closer, her mother's worried voice ringing through her head of all the dangers that might befall her path. And then the rider raised an arm and called out, causing Eofyr to relax.
"Greetings. I am Eofyr. And who might you be, wanderer?" She called in return in an equally friendly voice.

"My name is Micha," he replied. "I am traveling on my way to Rivendell."

Micha stopped a short distance away.

Eofyr's eyes lit up when she heard his destination. Rivendell!
"Then we have the same destination, friend," she said. "Perhaps you might come and share a fire with me. I'm also traveling to Rivendell."

Micha approached the fire gratefully. The night air had a biting chill and a steady breeze promised a cold night.

"I would be grateful," Micha said. He dismounted Syndar and sat by the fire opposite Eofyr. "It's an unlikely chance to stumble upon a traveler with the same destination. I would be glad of the company."

Eofyr sat back down by the fire with a sigh. Sha'taal wandered over to check out the new horse, before going back to grazing when his curiosity was satisfied.

"It is a very unlikely chance," Eofyr replied. "But as luck would have it, we stumbled upon each other. So what is it that brings you on the path to Rivendell?"

Micha averted his gaze from his fellow traveler and stared listlessly into the fire.

"I've heard rumors," he finally said. "Rumors that I need to find out the validity of."

Eofyr hesitated, unsure of the tone her new companion's voice took.

"I see," she said simply, picking up a stick to poke the fire. "Well, if you don't mind me saying, where from do you hail?"

"Here..." he said, waving his hand about. "Born and raised in Eregion, until I left to the misty mountains beyond Rivendell to find adventure fighting goblins and beasts."

He looked back up from the fire. The dank essence vanishing from his voice. "And yourself?"

Eofyr regarded her new companion for a moment, considering his words. She had never expected to find someone who had been born in this fair green country. She had not seen any trace of a village in her short time in Eregion. But then, she had been staying off the road, traveling in the wild.

"I'm on my way to Rivendell to answer a summons, in a manner of speaking," she finally answered. "But I am a long way from home, as I was born in the land of Rohan on the other side of the mountains." She idly fingered the pommel of her short sword, it's gold colored pommel and hand guard addorned with rearing horses, as most Rohirric weapons were.

Micha nodded.

"Well, it will be please to have companionship along the road. It's not the safest passage to seek."

Micha stood up and took his packs off Syndar, setting them down on the ground. He pulled out a thick fur blanket and laid it out.
