Hello again! I'm not totally sure what the plot could be, but I was thinking that perhaps it could take place as King Theoden is moving his people to safety...please correct me if I am doing something wrong.

Your all good, there are not real strict rules here so don't worry about it.

It would be an interesting time to RP. There are plenty of possibilities

I'll be sure to let you know, no worries. (in a nice way :P )

So, shall we simply create characters and do a "Play by Ear" RP without a set plot. Let each player manipulate the storyline as they desire for their own character?

Honestly, sometimes, I find those types of RPs some of the funnest because you never know what is coming.

:)
Yes, let's have it play it that way. I find those to be very fun as well; It's like playing an improv game of sorts. :)
So I guess I'll start?

Although just a maid to King Theoden of the house of Eorl, Athilda knew that something was stirring in Middle-Earth. For why would a Ranger, an Elf, a Dwarf and a Wizard all be under the same roof? As she worked to prepare the chambers for these strangers, she couldn't help but wonder what it was they were speaking about. And then there were those two children....she cringed at the thought of those children being left motherless, all because of the evil that was apparently beginning to spread throughout the land. At least, that is what she caught when she was walking through the great hall performing her duties. She became lost in her own thoughts as she finished cleaning the chamber then walked out and began her duties in another chamber.

(OOC: I'll dive into this...)

Dunhama worked in the Royal Kitchens of Meduseld, and had been the only one there when a request came for something for some unexpected guests to eat. He served them the stew he had made early in the day, and some bread with butter. He listened to the three strangers from other lands speak when two hungry children were brought in by Lady Eowyn. They were in need of something to eat. There was some stew left in a pot, so Dunhama filled bowls with what was left and he prepared some bread to serve with them. They were refugees from the Westmarch, and their eyes had seen too much for their young age. Dunhama knew what it was like to go hungry as a child. He had grown up in a life of hardship, for he and his mother were themselves fled the Westmarch years ago. After coming to Edoras, she worked as a serving maid at the Grey Mare Inn. When he was 16 his mother died leaving him an orphan, having never known his father. He was thankful to Lady Eowyn for giving him this job. He paused to watch the children eat and to listen to the grieving words. As he turned to return to the kitchen with the empty bowls the strangers had emptied, he saw the King’s maid listening from across the hall. The news was not good…

Athilda held the dusty blankets to her chest as she listened to the great Wizard speak of the horrors that were already befalling the land. She cringed as the Wizard spoke of the consequences should Theoden not get involved. Fear began to tug at her as it had when she was a child. She closed her eyes and took a breath to calm herself before she noticed the cook listening in as well.

While the odd strangers discussed, and locals listened by the entrance of the door sat a young man known only as Kano. His surename either lost or he would not say what it was. He had only recently come to Edoras, in a similar state to the two young children that had arrived recently. He, as a 16 year old, was much more equipped to handle the situation he figured. He didn't know what was going to happen but he heard talk of war... though he could not hear everything being said.

Dunhama came back out of the kitchen after dropping off the dishes when voices were being raised. The dwarf said little, the elf only a little more, but the Ranger and the Wizard were having a hard talk with our King Theoden. Walking softly around the outer wall of the great hall, Dunhama looked at the gathering of people near the door before stopping near where the maid stood clutching blankets and listening. Hearing the sharp words, Dunhama knew the time was coming too soon when he would have to put down his ladle and pick up a sword. He said in a whisper to the maid,

”Dark are these days, even if Grima is gone and our king has been awakened. Yet I will hold to hope in our king even with these hard words from strangers from afar.”

Dunhama looked at the side of her face but for a moment before turning back. The king was silent and walked a few paces in thought…

Athilda acknowledged the cook with a nod then looked up at him as he turned back.
"As do I." Her voice was like a gentle wind that blew across the flowers on the plain. "But I fear for the younger generation, for they have already been exposed to numerous horrors, and it is my hope that the evil that is spreading will be extinguished soon." As she said this, her gaze was steady on the two children, but then her eyes wandered to those who were listening at the door. Her delicate brows furrowed as she noticed a boy who looked nigh on 16, listening intently to what the king discussed. "For they are just children." She added softly as a tear slowly dripped down her cheek.

"Yes, they have seen too much in too few years."

Dunhama said as he turned to the maid. He looked back and saw a young man intent on listening, and guessed his thoughts were similar to theirs. He turned back to hear the King's words as it seemed he had made some sort of decision. He said to the maid,

"And I fear that these two are the fortunate ones to have gotten away."

Dunhama was not yet twenty years of age, and he looked again at the young man at the door. It was only a few short years ago that he was of similar age as him. He had not experienced battle and war in any way he could remember. His mother spoke little of the days in the Westmarch to him. Dunhama swallowed and words failed to come as his eyes grew wet with tears.
